How to upgrade a pre-fl e36 to use fl grills?

I have a pre-face lift e36 using the old grills, and I am wondering what parts would I need to upgrade it so I can use the face lift grills? And how much would it cost?

you need to change the front metal panel .

why bother they look funny anyway .

I got F/L front panel from European Auto spares in Ryan Place Manukau. Was $170 from memory and cost $100 to paint

Edit: They also do the kidney grills as well, but make sure you get the OEM ones off them if they have them in stock....the after market ones are sh*t...the retaining clips break, if not get the OEM ones. You wont need any other parts.

I did this to my old E36... I love the new grilles over the old ones.

Brand new facelift nosepanel is $200 from BMW.

Grilles I got for $50 secondhand off Trademe.

Paint was $100 as Glenn said.

FL panel is more curved and the holes are smaller to accommodate the trapezoidal shape of the new grilles.

As Brent suggested, colour code the whole grill. I have done this to my E36 and it does look 'staunch'

Brent are you sure the holes are a different size I have black "facelift "grilles in my 95 328 they just push straight in no extras or alterations required

As far as I am aware the only difference in the front panel in later E 36 models is to accomodate headlight washer systems

F/L & Pre F/L are different...someone may have upgraded yours when it went into the back of that bus (joke)
