CamB 48 Report post Posted April 20, 2010 3rd gear, with your diff and tyres* needs something like 8500rpm to go past 200kph (if I worked it out correctly). * Although I was too lazy to check - memory suggested a 2.93 diff (or is it a 3.15 - an M-coupe standard one)?, 225/40R18 and a 5spd. <pause while searching> OK, I'll do it properly as I've looked back through the thread and see its 245/40R18 (650mm diameter). Assuming a 1.66:1 third gear and two diff options: - a 2.93 --- 201kph @ 8,000rpm - a 3.15 --- 199kph @ 8,500rpm Now I think about it, you probably have the standard 3.15 M-coupe one? CamB 48 Report post Posted April 21, 2010 Yeah was actually just worried about your speedo being really wrong not just "normal" wrong (or that you think 8500rpm is a good idea and had the limiter changed!). Makes sense knowing that you changed into 4th and kept going. My car (shorter third, shorter diff) says its doing over 160kph in third at 7k rpm. Reality is a few % lower, just normal speedo conservatism. More importantly, acceleration is still awesome. I'm guessing with a few hundred kg less, your acceleration is even more awesome. cliffdunedin 8 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 The problem with putting this type of engine into one of these shells with all the trimmings is pretty much everything need to me modified or rebuilt to fit. This ^ bit i'm not looking forward to, actually after going over your progress there's not much of this i'm really looking forward to lol You have done an awesome job mate hopefully my s50 conversion will be in the league of yours. hybrid 1039 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Will do, In other news, managed to sort out a brand new washer bottle, Deloomed the right hand side of the engine bay washing bottle sensors, pump wiring and expansion tank level sensor. Ollie has finalised the airbox, Ill go get it cut to check final clearances then its off to laser cut. Its off tomorrow to have the new adjustible sway bars mounted (needs modded mounts to clear the headers) Drive shaft loops Stainless flanged center muffler for the street (flanged straight pipes for race) few other bits and pieces. hybrid 1039 Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Got the car back tonight from the welders tonight. * Permantly mounted brackets for expansion tank and ODBII * Flanged removible center muffler with straight pipe insert * Ireland Engineering Front and rear sway bars with adjustible links * Drive shaft loops * Custom battery mount for supporting smaller lighter batteries in the boot. High flow center muffler thats quitened it down a nice amount for the road. But still has its bite, just legal Straight pipe option I can bolt in for track days. Rear re-inforced swaybar blocks drill through to the boot Front sway bars connected to the control arms De-loomed washer tank and sensors, mounted expansion tank and ODBII connector neatly tucked in the corner.
