Weird.

Alpina bits on a M325? I want that gauge/vent thing bad ;)

Why would an Alpina have a tech2 kit, no alpina gauge cluster, no leather, no alpina seats, boot badge stuck on engine, and 325i badges...

Genuine

Missing Alpina wheels aswell.

I sense a Tui Ad... :D

All of the above my thoughts exactly! hate people like this on TM. the people that actually care about this sort of thing are going to know the owner is a BSer and not buy from him. and i dont mean bimmersporter!!

the sad thing is that he's most likely been convinced by the previous owner that its a genuine alpina. he will soon find out....

Genuine or not, it should still fetch a pretty penny.

It's a at least a genuine Tech-II and then some! But yeh, false advertising is a big ghey although from the sounds of it I do think he believes it to be true.

Wheather its genuine or not at 6.5k and within 15% of the reserve price which means it will be between $6,500 and $7,500, its a great price for a genuine M325i

Got High kms but if its got some service history then its good buying.

I wonder how many genuine Alpinas are in NZ?

I remember seeing an Blue E21 in the auckland airport carpark a few years ago. Had a yarn to the owner, car was awesome, cant even remember what model it was though.

Looks like badging, wheels and an alpina steering wheel too me?

http://www.m6board.com/alpina/e32b1135.html

No build tag photo, no alpina interior, no front spoiler, no "gearknob of fine wood" :D etc etc

I know if I had one, the first photo I took would be of the build tag! ;)

True dat.

Keep the engine and the options, remove the silly Alpina badges and restore to an original M325i = win!

ALPINA FAQ 17:

Do BMW ALPINA's have more than 1 VIN / Chassis numbers

Yes

They have in fact two VINs (Vehicle Identification numbers).

The original BMW one, which is crossed out (physically with a X, this is done with a laser). This is done in such a way that the VIN is still readable.

And the ALPINA one. This is the car's real VIN which should appear on the vehicles V5 (in the UK).

Just to confuse BMW refer to the car using the original VIN on their computers.

Hmmm interesting.

Ones LHD, Ones RHD.

WBAGC420X0DC15758 - VIN - 7/89 RHD

WBAGC41020DB93675 - Chassis - 9/89 LHD

I don't sense a tu ad.

Surely we all realise by now that BMW's nomenclature isnt at all specific and hence is inherently misleading.

Yes, the car seems to be a regular m325- but it would take a flat out liar to misquote a plainly stamped engine number with the cryptic alpina letters in it.

The engines didnt come with that badge on top all of the time, in fact more commonly on the Australian cars. The digi gauge is also in line with this.

If Bavarian Msport australia managed to get alpina bits and engines in new cars, i'm sure this person could have as well.

A friend of ours had a plain- jane Gwagen pulled off the line in the early 80's and fitted with AMG engine and no other extra spec which is unusual, but the people at BMW and Merc are only human- it IS possible to mix and match.

Hate to (/love to) through the proverbial spanner- but e30 era UK cars did not have a vin number crossed out.... they were built in a workshop just like if you want accessories put on your new RAV 4, it goes to Thames when it comes off the ship.

Found it. E32 Alpina cars VIN start with WBAP (AP - Alpina)

So neither vin is alpina, and the cars possibly dodgy.

From the Alpina aussie site -

"Alpina Bavarian Motorsport is in no way affiliated with Alpina GmbH Germany or BMW AG Germany"

So theyre not genuine alpinas anyway, but its possible its one of theirs? -

Took this for a drive on Sat.

Has Alpina c2/2 150hp engine(stamped) 373 lsd.

Goes like a cut cat-way quicker than a 325

Tourist delivery by original NZ owner.

I believe it it genuine but not fully speccd

ie has motorsport suspension, stock exhaust-I thought Alpina did their own

Alpina ecu

FSH from new

Overall in good condition-jst needs a little cosmetic work & eventually a respray

I think someone has got a great buy-I could have got it for 7500 on the spot
