Turboing v12

Recommended Posts

I say good luck with the turbo exhaust manifolds

I wonder would there be space in a 750i engine bay for this kind of setup?

Room wont be an issue. I've seen a V8 twin turbo where the turbos are actullay under the car beside the gearbox. Or the turbos could sit high and off to the side rather than under the manifold.

Dinan did a E32 750i twin turbo, was rated at around 450hp and 600nm iirc.

how big is the bellhousing and can you get a clutch and stick gearbox for it?

Im dropping my spare engine and bellhousing into an engineer next week to have it welded to the front of a Getrag from a V8. otherwise the real deal 6spds do come up every now and then, be prepared to spend in excess of $8k from our calculations to go genuine manual.

Unsure of dimensions.. what dimensions are you wanting exactly... , its out in the shed at Marty's not sure when I'll be out there next. The auto isn't horrendous, in fact its great for towing but I want a manual..

Taken from an american webshite:

total length [end of crank pulley to rear block face] 29.25"

top of motor, widest point at valve covers 19.5"

bottom of oil pan sump to crank centerline 8.5"

bottom of oil pan sump to highest point on valve covers 25.5"

bottom of oil pan to bottom of sump 3.5"

rear block face to crank end 1.0"

rear of block to oil pan sump 14.5"

Yes it's in inches don't be lazy, I've already done the googling for you.

bugger geuss its model specific just thought if the engine bay is tight on a 750 id get a tower to tower dimension id have a better understanding on how much the airbox and a like take up
