shaneg 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) You could easily stick one in the cavity where the mufflers used to be on an e39... Theres a lot of room up there. should be able to route througe piping back beside the exhaust and youve already got the heat shield. polley 916 Report post Posted March 11, 2012 http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/product...y=Turbocharging Looks like one bump and you could rip everything off... Also no room for muffler after the turbo.. would make things pretty loud.
shaneg 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2012 Also no room for muffler after the turbo.. would make things pretty loud. Why would it be loud? I have no mufflers and it passes wof noise, a turbo would only quiet it down as the exhaust is spinning the turbo... Youd just have the extra turbine noise.E90 m5 twin turbo

Palazzo 479 Report post Posted March 11, 2012 The rather long inlet tract is what gets me...That's what I was thinking. I thought the further or longer the piping, the worse the result. Where's crunchy?

Loud enough to bring council and police attention to my house anyway, don't think it would of passed a wof at all lol...
E30 325i Rag-Top 2963 Report post Posted March 11, 2012 The thought of having an oil feed pipe hanging down under the car like that kind of worries me. I was looking for a 1st April date on this article - but it seems to be kosher???

Mador 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2012 Looks very interesting, and id say the lag would be the same, I dont know too much about fluid dynamics but once the BOV is closed and as long as there are no leaks from the Turbo to the Intake Pressure should build at the same rate no mater what the length.....? Do correct me if im wrong and explain, I like to know alot of useless information lol
topcat 11 Report post Posted March 12, 2012 most problems can be over come from what i can see,but its not optimal. have toyed with the idea of a stock looking e34 540i with this sort of setup.with the right housing, and not boosting the crap out of it, most lag issues should be minimal. most folk think anything under 15psi isnt worth it, but with high compression, a well tuned 10psi on the b40 would be plenty hand fulls. but then what would i know,i only grow vegies
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted March 12, 2012 Yeah I've always had concerns about the long intake back to the engine... but apparently if done right it can work - I've seen a few of these setups floating around the internet. I'd be silly enough to try it out one day given the right project.

You probably wont notice the change in pressure on the later.
