Meh, I ran on 91 for a year before realising 96 was the correct fuel, didn't really make much of a difference. Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 (edited) Dammit I fell into that trap also. Filled right up at my normal pump on the way to work, then noticed it was 95! Grrrrrrr! I asked the dude behind the counter and he said they'd run out, but that BP Rangitikei is still offering it. Now I go there for my 98. Due to higher than expected demand for BP Ultimate and an unscheduled maintenance outage at the refinery in Western Australia that makes BP Ultimate for New Zealand, we currently have a product shortage. As a result of the product shortage, we have temporarily replaced BP Ultimate with Premium Unleaded at a number of sites around the country. MattA 162 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 1st of Jan is when it becomes law, 96 - 95 is not really any differnet yes you lose 1 octane point but the fuel is cleaner so will burn more efficiently. It is important to note that for people wanting a higher octane fuel, BP offers its premium 98 unleaded BP Ultimate at 104 of its service stations across the country. In Germany and most of the rest of Europe they have 95 as the standard and 98 as the other choice. Never seen 91 in France the whole time I lived there. I've got no better fuel economy from my last two tanks of 98 than I did from 96 so for the 7c/L price premium I ain't gonna bother... will have to suck it in & swallow the 95...
