Allanw 1072 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 It cracks me up how amber is all the rage now over white. It really depends on the car and colour. I got brand new Hella Halogens for our E39, but actually thought the clear corners looked cheap and nasty on our colour (Steel Blue), and the BMW Xenon retrofit kit I fitted came with Gingercators, which I think look way better. They'd look ghey on black and some other dark colours though.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 I used to (maybe still do) not like amber indicators and lights. Thought it made cars look old and cheap. But saw some lights for peanuts so bought them. Too busy to fit at the moment with exams next week but "coming soon..." hehe
Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 1, 2013 Bought some stealth bulbs to hopefully remove the egg-yolk front indicators today.

jeffbebe 1560 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 Titanium plated to avoid ring scratching! (not mine )Sounds painful... And hell to clean. I'd just use it for the gears personally.

euroriffic 612 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 I used to (maybe still do) not like amber indicators and lights. Thought it made cars look old and cheap.I used to think that too. When I first got the 328i (black) first job was remove orange lenses for the updated white ones but then went back to the orange fronts afew years later as it made the car look so much better somehow. But I do think it depends what colour the car is. Tried the whites on the white touring but didn't think it looked right so kept them orange. Orange might not look to good on the yellow m3, might clash abit

Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 6, 2013 Just ordered my 'Shift Style' shift boot and handbrake boot. Decided on black leather (over alcantara) with dark grey stitching to match the seats. Pretty good price IMO - $67USD incl. shipping from the states for both. Custom made, lots of other options but I decided on something subtle. They use an elastic base to go around the plastic frame so they're reusable and don't necessarily need to be glued. Decided to get it due to not wanting to butcher my original gear knob just in case I decide to revert for whatever reason.
Apex 693 Report post Posted June 6, 2013 11 pages already! By my estimation you will have 128 pages by years end! Gutted I missed seeing this beast on the weekend.

Did I miss you? I thought I got offered one of your Mrs. juices. Perhaps you'd already gone... I was parked up by Ray, the CSLs, and the E30 M3s. The additional pages will hopefully be more update dense.

Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 13, 2013 Just ordered a 330D Shift lever being sent to family in the UK for the next 2 weeks. $$ savings!
Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 23, 2013 Pretty minor update but you may have seen I was seeing if anyone wanted M sticker replacements in the FS section. Long story short, I found them MUCH cheaper overseas that I was being quoted here! So the 10 year old badge got a refresher.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 My Storm Motorwerks v1 shift knob arrived today! I'll do a proper write-up when I have more time but the extra weight has really smoothed out the shifts; really happy with it!
jeffbebe 1560 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Posh! Looks good, this is just the gear knob, right, not a short shift kit?
Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Thanks Julian Yup this is just the knob but the additional 400g odd transforms the shift feel. I've got the BMW performance shift lever on its way too which will shorten the throws a bit.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) Got the BMW Performance shift lever today (A family member brought it back with him from the UK so it was only $125 for the whole set-up) rather than $200+ here! Having Ray install it on Friday if he's got the space. I've also got a couple of the differential bolts that superceded the ones in my car which will hopefully reduce a bit of the clunk under shifting. These will go in at the same time if Ray can at the time Seems that most people who have installed them have been happy and at the price I couldn't help but try it out. At the very least it'll tie me over until I can afford to buy an AutoSolutions SSK. The Storm knob is going really well, has smoothed out the shifts really nicely and I highly recommend it to anybody! Also have an alcantara BMW Performance handbrake handle on its way from Tom Might just have to get some alcantara boots now!
