HELLBM did the subframe on my car before I owned it but ive heard it is worth doing a top mounted brace as well.
m325i 709 Report post Posted April 23, 2020 It’s worth doing as now the common wisdom is plates alone do not fix the flaw (floor?). I had it done with a bunch of other work, so best to talk to Ray / Hellbm. I also added the CMP solid steering coupler. I dunno if this was worth it or not - (placebo ?)

All the US forums are filled with it and it's so annoying. Think of the BS bandwidth! Quote Yep I heard that recently as well and started to bite my nails haha. The investment is worth it. You'll get (all of?) it back when you sell and you do not want a floor replacement bill. I'd bet you will have some degree of damage already. Quote Is it Carbon black? Making me want a euro plate now..... Yes it is. And yes you should. You can convert your govt plate for not as much
Sammo 2544 Report post Posted April 23, 2020 Just binged the thread - so good! Looks like you've been through a few different corner lights - are the clears with 'more orange' inside (near bottom of page 3) different to the ones above that seem fully white? If that makes sense. I'm swapping my cracked clears out and have seen a few online that appear to have a bit of orange inside the clear housing (rather than just reflecting the orange bulb)... I like that look as find my clears too much like a blob of white...
hqstu 780 Report post Posted April 23, 2020 Love that plate ! And love SMG as well (except when clutch is cold - I look like a bit of a jerkoff...)

Pretty sure both the ones you are talking about are the same housing.

If there is damage hopefully it's minimal. I'll start looking into the CMP kit now, cheers.
m325i 709 Report post Posted April 24, 2020 ^ oh I was assuming it was stock only. Plates clearly help and it took years for their weakness to become apparent.
Harper 547 Report post Posted April 24, 2020 Yeah hopefully it's not urgent. Ill talk to ray and find out exactly what was done to my car and if he recommends any further reinforcement.

Just had a look on the CMP product page, do you have the topside beam kit and the front mount extension kit or just the topside beam?
m325i 709 Report post Posted April 24, 2020 Just the topside kit and plates (and the steering coupler from him). Do you have a thread / pics of your car?

Not a thread but I can take some pics. Just talked to ray and reinforcement plates were done. Just not top mounted bar. The only unanswered question I have is that there is heaps of weird fibre glass moulded on top of the subframe area? Might have been something done during the repair.
