Recommended Posts

have this nz new 93 m3 here , was going to tidy it up and keep it

but dont have the time to give it the love it needs

have spent a bit on servicing stuff , oils , brakes ,shocks , etc etc

has new wof

drives fine , engine pulls really well

gerabox is nice

has the later evo type alloys

NZ new

only 2 owners before me

i have had it for less than a year and only driven it about 500-1000km if that

mostly just needs a repaint

i was going to change it to black , just bolt on some black panels and paint the rest of the body black.

paint is faded in some areas , clear coat peeling , small marks/scrathes/dents etc

seats are good

electrics are fine

in papakura

12k ono

if it doesn't sell i will just keep on tiding it up and keep it as a daily runnabout car

come on some one save it from being turned into another track hack , targa car etc

not many low km , low owner ones left now all been stripped out for racing etc

updated photos , got some better tidier wheels and michelin tyres on it as well

SAVE IT NOW !!!!! :)

Agree ^ i think its decent value.

Would rather have bad paint than a bad engine. Might be the start of another targa car

How much would it cost to repaint all those peeled/damaged panels?

I reckon the price is decent. Glws.

Just out of interest, is the given an extreme example of quite a common issue with the E36's?

I have heard that - although somewhat well painted - they had a tendency to peel.

Can anyone confirm this?

some colours more so than others , but normally a owner of a m3 would get them repianted if needed.

depends on how much is been outside in the nz harsh sun etc

Hmm interesting. Mine is Daytona violet and has very slight orange-peel over large sections of the car - I can only presume this is re-spray as I doubt it would have come out of the factory like that. If it has been re-sprayed it was painted stupidly well.

I'm wondering if it had the paint fixed under warranty early in it's life.

It`s the old story though...this is an M3. Why would a previous owner let it go like that ?

Too much money in the bank to care ? Not enough money in the bank to be able to look after it ?

Brents car is the exception, not the rule IMO. The car was exposed to a very harsh environment for a long time. Sun will ruin paint pretty quickly.

I have seen wealthy people give some desirable cars to their teenage children who have neglected them. Could be what happened here?

Craziest example was a high school friend of mine whose father gave him his RS500 Sierra Cosworth. It got trashed - house speakers hooked up in the boot, bumpers falling off, regularly thrashed. At 15 none of us knew just how rare and desirable it was at the time... sad now to think about it.

Brent`s the biz alright. I just don`t understand why someone would let the car go like that. Try trading it with a dealer and then telling that same ( shocked ) dealer that you`ve looked after the car. Or even worse , stick it up on Trade me and describe it as `well loved , but time to let it go to another good home`.

No issues with Brent, I keep an eye on his cars for sale. And I bought a nice wee M5 style boot spoiler off him a few months ago for my e39.
