MISS BM 712 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 interesting that the airbags didnt go off??? http://www.turners.co.nz/Damaged-Vehicles/Search/BMW/323i/12491968/ My airbags never deployed in E36 and E38.. Both well over 50km impact too. Blown fuse maybe?
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Expecting air bags to work perfectly in a 10+ year old car is quite optimistic. From what I've seen they either fail to go off at all or have a delayed response time.
aja540i 1906 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Looks like it could have been backed into by a truck, there are a few scenarios that would cause that damage without deploying airbags. Or they might be faulty, most of the other systems on a car that old would have been maintained or repaired by now, im guessing the airbags have been left to their own devices! yng_750 247 Report post Posted April 25, 2014 Impact looks to be at a decent angle which reduces forward load on airbag sensors Bigger cars with more airbags may have activated curtain airbags only in this scenario.
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted April 25, 2014 have had heaps like this main impact is above the chasis rails and to the side of the left rail , so just hits soft bendy steel stuff not much of a thud , and no passenger in the left seat at the time otherwise that one might have gone off
