m325i 709 Report post Posted May 11, 2014 Yes there is one in town everyday. Not sure if its NZ new though. I also see another pretty often, think its a different one - female driver

BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted May 11, 2014 We had a little traffic light grand prix once, and to my surprise my boat bet him. The PWR of the 1m vs the e39 m5 would suggest that 1m should get the M5 off the line. So I guess he didn't launch very well..
M5V8 337 Report post Posted May 11, 2014 well they are both very manual cars, so alot would be down to the driver. Not that an M5 is slow mind you...
E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Black was the least common colour on the 1M, but there were still a dozen of them brought in through official channels. Alpine White was the most common colour, followed by the Orange.

KwS 2425 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Alpine White was the most common colour, followed by the Orange. That surprises me, only seen one of two white ones, but there are tons of orange ones around.
E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 There were three white ones all for sale on TradeMe at the same time a few weeks ago! Although it's still not as if they are a "common" car in any of the colours!
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 yeah, would agree with Kelvin, have seen a couple in the Orange now in Wellington, yet to see a white one. Keen to take one for a go one day. See if they really are the spiritual successor to the E30 that a lot of journo's said it was.
Greg111 13 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 No they are not Andy. The 1M is fast and comfortable so not like a E30 at all.
Greg111 13 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Handling wise and size comparrison sure.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 I've been told that it is quite unstable at speed (150+) - can anyone confirm?
M5V8 337 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 really? you think BMW would produce an unstable M car ? everything gets time in the wind tunnel these days.
RobD 41 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Maybe unstable relative to a supercar at that speed. Aerodynamics-wise it's still no McLaren F1 and at 250 kph is going to experience a certain level of instability. Most cars will and this is part of the reason for Germany's gentlemen's agreement. vtgts300kw 90 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Most cars will and this is part of the reason for Germany's gentlemen's agreement. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk Not sure how much of a role that played. That agreement was purely political.
RobD 41 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 The fact remains that an average road car at that speed is not going to be particularly stable. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
M5V8 337 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 I've been told that it is quite unstable at speed (150+) - can anyone confirm? I'm going to assume you are referring to american imperial mph on this one... then the comment makes more sense.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) I'm going to assume you are referring to american imperial mph on this one... then the comment makes more sense. Nope I was referring to kmh and it was substantiated by somebody's experience of driving one (could have been brief) I have no idea. However, he wasn't trying to sell me on the idea of a 1M so perhaps he was exaggerating. It could be utter horsesh_t! Greg111 13 Report post Posted May 13, 2014 Unless that 1M was extremly tired which is unlikely really then your friend was exaggerating, they seem to sit better on the road the faster you go. My E36 is 19 years old and sits perfect on the road at 200 plus (i mean track)
