actletpone 43 Report post Posted December 18, 2014 Hi yes keen but your message box is full Mate hired one from hire pool, was fairly large and sat on its own little trailer to tow behind the car. Think it cost about $50 for the day. Might be an option.

earon 32 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Hi guys, Would anyone in the Auckland region have a fan clutch removal tool (E46 M3) I could hire? I've already bought quite a bit of bmw tooling however certain weather issues in the states have delayed my postage and I'd like to have my project going along on schedule. Thanks Picture attached if reference needed.

I've already bought quite a bit of bmw tooling however certain weather issues in the states have delayed my postage and I'd like to have my project going along on schedule. Thanks Picture attached if reference needed. I've never needed one. I did however need one for the crank pulley on Dads E30 - took about 10 minutes with a drill and grinder to shape a piece of strap from the scrap bin. A local engineering shop, or steel merchant will probably have the metal you need either in the scrap bin, or offcut bin - for free, or for a donation to the beer fund. earon 32 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 ^ 32mm spanner and mallet. It'll be off in 60 seconds.Yeah I was trying to avoid that route with just the 32mm wrench and hammer and ensure I've got that holding tool on the water pump pulley but looks like I'll have to go there now. earon 32 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 I also wanted to avoid that method the first time I tried but my hand was forced and I've wondered why I bothered ever since. Thanks for the advice Dave, appreciate it! By the way I'm a fan of your E36 M3 (I'm normally not a E36 fan, but your car is always quite the standout!)
earon 32 Report post Posted January 17, 2015 You'll laugh at this... Now I need one! My belt is not holding the pump so the sledge method is not working (I've sprayed it with penetrating oil in the meantime). Did you find one in the end? Anyone in Auckland (preferably the 'Shore) have one? Ahaha! Just bad luck mate.. no I couldn't bring myself to swing that hammer! Haha I'll have one in 3 days time, been busy all week caving so didn't get around to it..have a few other things I can do on the car without having to pull the fan out so will continue on that till holding tool arrives. I could pass it onto you when I'm done?if that'll help you out?
