Thanks ppl - new viewpoint

Recommended Posts

Before I came here, I dismissed old BMWs E30 and the like as being too ancient, too boxy, too much trouble etc, even though I enjoyed my brother in law's '83 Alpina before he rolled it (broken tie rod).

Since I've been here, I've been enjoying learning about and looking at your cars and its changed my mind. I now have a new appreciation.

I'm in awe of some of your mods and think y'all are doing a great job.

I'll stick with my E39, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't pick up a project car at some time if the price was right and I had some spare time. (lots, by reading some posts - :D )

See - even us oldies can have open minds.... :P

hehe .. yeah to be honest I had a similar view .. until I learn't a bunch more about them. Now, If I had the garage space I would kill to do a e30 325 lightweight road legal racecar.

I think for us newer bimmer / 'older' guys the stigma attached with the e30 _at first glance_ is some 17yr old with a baseball cap on sideways running around on 'bling' malaysian chrome wheels bashing the hell outta a 12 inch sub up and down queen street. Thus creating a picture of younger people who own e30's. Its wrong and I'm guilty of it many of a time. (I'm still young and im even showing my age :| )

The thing is (like any older vehicle) they have a certain charm, and get better and better with age. You have great things like being able to alot of work on the cars yourself, putting the older style 80's lower size motorsport wheels on them and they look fantastic! (for mine to look good I had to go 19 inch :( )

On the Saturday run I was quite proud of the representation in our convey, its great rolling through a little town and the looks on people faces when 15 odd bimmers rock on through.! :D

I think you'll find even E30 owners hate the chrome and sub brigade.

Could there be a nice e30 rennaisance with the race series coming up?

 That's the funniest site i've seen this afternoon!!!

i asked this guy for a condom, and he gave me a rubber glove, so i asked, "Do i use this with 5 girls, or once with myself?"

my friend doesnt want to have sex with her boyfriend because he hasnt had a haircut since they met and looks like a wild man. plus she has a yeast infection and her boyfriend doesnt believe her and thinks she's sleeping with someone else. she is. his room mates. all at once.

Yup, I agree, Im getting rid of my E36 to do an E30 project. It will probably annoy the purists, but I dont give a f**k about that - I'll just smoke them all out!!

Are you going to put the diesel Toyota in the E30??? :P

At least if I put a Toyota Diesel in it, it would be faster than the 318i its starting out as...

:finger: :finger:

and sparkle, 18s on an e30 would be ghey - it would be a rollerskate!
