With a few modifications our race cars are down to 2 turns lock to lock :)

They are fairly hard to find and often the seller wants an exchange one to do up and sell. With freight and GST it would be a good buy if you can land one here for $350 from my experience. Mine cost a lot more than that.

^ stoppers and inconvenient turning circle I imagine!

Well that would kind of defeat the purpose, that doesnt make it any quicker :)

Nope far from m3an :)

It does involve rack limiters

So how we do it.....we took a spare set of hubs we had here, the arm that the steering rack end bolts into we cut that off and moved it in about 20mm closer to the centre of the hub,

Because the joint was closer to the pivot it cuts the amount it has to turn

After doing that we also had to put some stoppers in the rack to stop the wheels turning to far

We now have a 2 turn lock to lock :)

You would have a very hard time convincing a cert engineer thats gonna work for the road (If you can find one at the moment in AKL, there is only 1 or 2 operating now). Anything to do with steering requires quite the engineering report and testing. All costing a lot in time/labour ... its still cheaper to get the real thing.

For us it was cheaper to do that rather than buy a rack, you don't need cert on a race car :)

I've heard talk that the z3 rack is a little to quick? And that 3 turns gives a better feel??

I have both in front of me, Z3 and Clubsport 3.0 racks. Deciding which one to use, Probably the Z3 one. I did some quick measurements as I read a few posts suggesting the turning circle is reduced, but LTL the inner steering rack comes out just as far on both Z3 and 3.0 racks.

Anyone interested in more comparisons? I will probably be selling the 3.0 if anyone is interested, bought it from Ray a couple weeks back.
