Guest MP0wer Report post Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Looking to buy a cheap 4 door car to do errands, cursing or regular run around in, something with a small engine like 316i/318i but seems they are priced close to 323i's. Was looking at BMW's since I know them well, rwd & pretty decent in terms of looks & reliability. But not much I liked on Trademe really. May also look into the 2000's (longer 1 year WOF periods). Also if anybody Got anything up for sale, let me know. Nothing Fancy, but must be 4 Door. Cheers Edited April 29, 2015 by MP0wer
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 E36 323i Sedan, bit fugly though unless M spec kitted Early model E46 320i-323i might suit. Would want one in manual to get the better fuel economy though.
qube 3570 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 always the same debate but is there any reason you want/need the 316 or 318 over the 323? i think fuel economy is quite similar if not the 6cyl a bit better and its nicer to drive and less likely to have oil leak issues. Guest MP0wer Report post Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Good Point, I guess I rather go with the #1 Priority Price, Then Fuel Economy. Then the motors that are more reliable and cars overall condition as in engine/trans/interior/exterior Tidyness aswell as May also look at the E Class Mercs like the 190...?? nick496 268 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 I have an e46 328i. Mate had a 318i. Both had very silimar fuel consumption around the 10-11l per 100km around Hamilton.
Guest MP0wer Report post Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) Cheers Guys, I already have a few Grunty cars including the 328i(Supercharged). Was looking for something that wont fuss up for long trips or running into grocery shopping. comfort, cheap on fuel, something reliable, good motor etc. 323i is looking like an option. Any body here got any experience with Mercs? Should cars with 200K's put me off? Saw some little 90's 4 pot Mercs floating around trademe, between 170 - 200K can be had around ~$2K. Which is close to what I wanted to spend. buy this , tip top condition nothing needs doing , nz new zf auto . and comes with a extra door http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-880472141.htm Thats a sweet car Brent, a bit too much for groceries but I was looking for a tourer or a 4 door, Saved on watchlist Edited April 29, 2015 by MP0wer

Something slow & nice, with back seats, comfy, good for long trips with backpacks/friends/dogs/family or just shopping around, everyday car. Mercs have better interior then the 90's bmws. Are Mercs around the same price point 1.5K-3K any good? See, if you to had to pick in between these two, Wouldn't you pick the Merc? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=877018559 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=879405937 Edited April 29, 2015 by MP0wer
KwS 2425 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 f**k no, mercs are sh*t, especially old ones. Parts for the old models like that are becoming hard to get new too.

qube 3570 Report post Posted April 30, 2015 nissan p11 primera wagon. find the one with the good SR20 engine and id look for a manual one if not auto not cvt. but in saying that we got the cvt one and its still alright. lol no hondas hahahaha nothing wrong with a honda mate they are bulletproof. otherwise the obvious choice is a toyota corolla.

Guest MP0wer Report post Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Front wheel drive auto shitters - really ?? If you want to go down that route look at an old 80s/ 90's corolla, you might find a manual , but reallly they are just a jelly mould on wheels like the plethora of Honda civics and Nissans. They are as comforting and exciting as a wet blanket. Look at a Fiat 105 strada or a shitty old alfa sud at least they have some character. Forget the mercs they really are Shite I am just being put on a circle mate, I originally wanted to go for a BMW Wagon, something with a small engine, auto don't bother me, its just for running errands and groceries or cursing town to town, I got my other cars when I want to really take things for a spin. I guess reliability, comfort is all I am after right now in the lower price range. 4 door bmw would be sweet too. 2003+ would had been excellent. Maybe this wouldn't be too shabby?' http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=879405937 Edited April 30, 2015 by MP0wer
