Breaker 980 Report post Posted September 4, 2015 Well my Sunday Driver got collected today. A 2000 E38 740i, NZ New 205ks Got it ex Turners for $2400. Using this as a bit of a track on the progress. Initially mechanics look pretty good, drives really well, no clunks or anything. Good service records. Interior is pretty filthy though and everything not done in a service hasn't been touched, like cabin air filters. Little stuff like having a Kabab stick, yes that's right, stuffed down the wiper blade to hold it in. The grill on the bonnet I found had no fixings in it when changing the blades, all lazy stuff Lots to tidy up, again looks stored outside and needs a Real good compound and polish etc to clean up. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Breaker 980 Report post Posted September 6, 2015 Interior clean up about done, Full leather clean, done - pics are crap lol Full detail inside, done - man this thing looks 5 yrs old not over 15 Found oil leak , em oh well had to be something wrong. Breaker 980 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Got to the bottom of the leaking washer fluid, seems the aftermarket mud flaps from PO was using the tank as a great place to screw into, hence hole, lol Easy fix anyway, had a clean up while in there Buffed the windows up as well, got rid of most of the water marks which is nice Will bring it up for the next meet in October. On my Suzuki Cappuccino, the VIN plate had been pop riveted through the firewall, into the washer tank... but you could SEE it was there... retards! Breaker 980 Report post Posted October 24, 2015 I think I've located the leak/ a leak, looks on top back left cover, the under side and general engine bay was so filthy with built up debris I had to clean it twice. Makes a huge difference after a good degrease. there may be another at the back or it could be running from here not entirely sure. Tranny and steering fluid are good though, I think the power steering hoses just needed tightening, no leaks since then Proceeded with a kidney transplant that I've had a couple of weeks waiting. Old ones where obviously broken and PO had silicon the crap out of them to hold them. Took over 90mins of scraping and rubbing to get it all off.
