SmithyInWelly 212 Report post Posted May 9, 2019 Don't look... It drives far better than I expected it would, has a very extensive service history and came from a fussy owner with great presentation - unlike most of the alternatives I looked at... taking it over the Rimutakas tomorrow so interested to see how it goes. And if anyone in/near Wellington has a set of Mondeo 18inch alloys give me a shout!
gjm 3258 Report post Posted May 9, 2019 Not a colour I would have chosen, but having driven Mondeos for years in the UK (mostly hire cars, although I owned a ST200) I can happily say I'd much rather have one of those than a Vauxhall (Holden) Vectra. The Mondeo isn't bad car at all. Lacking in charisma, perhaps, but very capable.
SmithyInWelly 212 Report post Posted May 9, 2019 Unfortunately the colour choice was limited to any colour I liked, as long as it was "tango" haha! I'd always found them a half step above a Camry to be fair; but I've not driven one for several years - and it does what it says in the tin and suits my needs for the time being... and it was in such good nick with such a good history, it was difficult to justify something else at this stage.
BozzaFC 300 Report post Posted May 9, 2019 Well done! Even I’m tempted with a Mondeo after the Grand Tour’s piece on it. Sold the E46 then?

Congrats on the purchase and look forward to seeing it I drove an NZ XR5 back in the day - they were quite handy for what they are... pretty scarce tho! Funnily enough I also looked at an Adventra; which was a great 3 metre car... even one metre; but when I drove it... ouch!
treone 647 Report post Posted May 10, 2019 (edited) I contemplated an XR5 late last year, when two came. They remind me of an XRi Telstar I had, which was actually a pretty good liftback. And practical too! I've actually ended up another Adventra - Don't know why, must be that 3m+ practicality. It sure ain't the economy ? Can't go wrong with Mondeo, and thats coming from a 'Holden' guy haha! Edited May 10, 2019 by treone
Young Thrash Driver 1020 Report post Posted May 11, 2019 Same car really as my wife's Madaz 6, putting larger (factory) rims on it certainly helped the grip and handling.
