Palazzo 477 Report post Posted January 17, 2020 There are 9 at Zebra/Pick a part right now, there’s always at least one when I check on line. The 4 cylinder ones seem to be hopelessly unreliable, someone I worked with spent $6k on hers in 12 months, gave up and sold it for $3k (silly really, should have had at least 6 months of trouble free motoring left). Will they ever become loved or just fade away? And does the E90 320i face the same fate?

qube 3570 Report post Posted January 17, 2020 fantastic little cars if not for the horrible engine in them
Eagle 1662 Report post Posted January 18, 2020 Maybe the N40 engine ones are better. Lady at my old work had a E87 118i manual with that engine in it, looked fairly clean, she hadn't spent much on it with over 200,000km on the clock. NZ New with mostly open road driving though, opposite fate of your typical 4 cylinder jap import.
gjm 3258 Report post Posted January 18, 2020 Pop an N20 into one. That'd sort it.

NZ BMW 368 Report post Posted January 18, 2020 I had to look up what this car was. That probably tells you the answer. Aren't there some with the 2.5L in them?
Palazzo 477 Report post Posted January 18, 2020 There are 2.5 ones which are probably fun if they had a manual. But the 4 cyl ones are dying at a fast rate. Watched something on YouTube about old cars and how some had become desirable despite being thought of as crap when they were a dime a dozen, then saw 4 of these lined up being wrecked. I can’t see it myself, but you never know I suppose. I won’t mourn them.
