BreakMyWindow 1953 Report post Posted May 6 Is it normal for these cars to prime the fuel pump if a door is opened after it’s been parked for a while? i.e drive the car, park it. Open the boot 20mins later and the fuel pump activates briefly.
NZ_InFerno 396 Report post Posted May 11 Have listed a bunch of 130i Parts, including new in box and rare parts, starting at low prices and $1 no reserve https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/search?member_listing=187919
M3AN 4079 Report post Posted May 11 Mine is now listed on Trademe also, the free listings today gave me the necessary kick in the arse (and rewarded my procrastination). Bimmersport members should contact me here first if they're interested. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/5313134381

M3AN 4079 Report post Posted May 11 (edited) No, mine has been laid up for a month on a battery tender and nothing strange upon opening the doors when I got into it today, and I didn't start it immediately. Certainly no extended pump priming. When I did start it, it fired up like new. Edited May 11 by M3AN
M3AN 4079 Report post Posted May 11 (edited) Not sure which thread to actually put this in but... Like today drove it to get groceries and back. About 15mins each way. Opened the boot about 10mins after arriving home and the fuel pump turned on for a split second. It’s as if it’s making sure there’s enough fuel pressure in anticipation of the next drive… The pump also briefly primes about 10mins after opening then closing a door. Has an error for the intelligent battery sensor so could be related. Rescued another one to restore and move on, think there was a post about it on here. Terracotta leather will look loads better in a black car, plus the oil temp gauge is helpful for track days.
Jacko 2225 Report post Posted May 12 (edited) Mine definitely primes the pump in certain circumstances, like doors etc, always has done. The Skoda is worse, if you open the bonnet can hear relays clicking and lots of things whirring... putting itself into emissions check mode I suspect Edited May 12 by Jacko
Driftit 2181 Report post Posted May 12 I will pay more attention to them but I can't say I've ever heard it. The E55 does all sorts of things when you open a door. Pumps prime, air suspension fills, EBC primes. Might be too use to it. Terracotta interior looks great. Feels a little more premium.
KwS 2442 Report post Posted May 12 My E91 used to do that, maybe its just a BMW thing from that era, Could even be FL/PFL difference?

Both my pfl and facelift do it. Just a bit of a “newer” bmw quirk i guess. Too used to older ones like the e39 M5.
M3AN 4079 Report post Posted yesterday at 04:07 AM (edited) For those rocking manuals this guy from Oz is making some DSSR's that look pretty good quality and he's happy to ship. https://www.babybmw.net/threads/130i-billet-dssrs.158650/ Edited yesterday at 04:08 AM by M3AN

Then I realised my blue pre-LCI doesn't have one. But my manual pre-LCI and auto LCI do. Someone must have swapped in a LCI cluster into the manual at some stage in its life? That billet DSSR with a shifter kit would match the single mass flywheel in my car so well.
BreakMyWindow 1953 Report post Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Anyone know more about these. They’re great over bumps, but on a track…?

Jacko 2225 Report post Posted yesterday at 06:30 AM Only LCIs got oil temp, I retrofitted it by switching around eproms with a soldering iron and coding f**kery into my PreLCI. I think you could code the "economy" gauge in some PreLCI manuals to do oil temp, but obviously the scale wont be right. Its worth doing as even most OBD2 tools cant figure out the PID for BMW oil temp.

Had them in the blue one I accidentally bought, and I've seen them on another import also, indeed they're great on the road, much better than the stock motorsport suspension. I would not think they'd provide much control or comfort under track conditions but I've not tried them in those circumstances. Those and mine were practically night and day.
