LemonHunter 583 Report post Posted October 19, 2020 This looks like it had a lot of love, to get to this kind of mileage in this kind of condition. It’s Auto. It just rolled into the wreckers yard over the road. Runs and drives, dereg, no idea what’s actually wrong with it, for someone to scrap it. It’ll be getting chopped up in a couple of days, so if anyone is interested, speak now, or forever hold your peace. I love the shape, but this one will be a labour of love for someone I expect.

LemonHunter 583 Report post Posted October 20, 2020 (edited) Sell it to me, what do you see as the real buying point? if it doesn’t run or drive, that’s probably a not buying point. Edited October 20, 2020 by LemonHunter
BMTHUG 1057 Report post Posted October 20, 2020 the value of these little cars is only going to increase. the engines themselves are strong, in fact I've seen them do 600k with minor issues, the auto boxes last a while if serviced regularly. also whats not to love? with a little bit of elbow grease this will come up beautifully. It's got such potential. I will attach pics of mine. for 1.5k I'd take it and run. I paid 5k for a 520i thats not running lol

The key, all other electrics are fine That's probably the igniter wire to the starter. Common problem. Hook a relay up to it and it should turn over. Or you can jump two pins on the diagnostic port with the ignition on and it will start it. I think it was pin 11 and 16 (but I'd recommend you double check this, it's been a while). LemonHunter 583 Report post Posted October 21, 2020 (edited) For my reference https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=100967 also looks like pin 11 (starter external) and pin 15 (ignition power) failing that probably 14 (Battery Power) Edited October 21, 2020 by LemonHunter Pin for my reference
LemonHunter 583 Report post Posted October 21, 2020 (edited) Okay, it started fine, 2 cranks, not bad fir 4 years off the road, has sufficient oil, but the check oil light doesn’t go off. If it’s the attached, the wire has broken off the sender, it’s loose as heck inside the boot and doesn’t feel attached Edited October 21, 2020 by LemonHunter

LemonHunter 583 Report post Posted October 21, 2020 I’m like 90% trying to call in a favour to see what it failed the last Wof on it’s possible the age, oil light, and failure to crank were the reasons for sale.

coop 261 Report post Posted October 22, 2020 Glad to see it saved. Nice work. Bloody unreal how something like this can end up at a scrap yard to be crushed. You’d think the scrappies would have the nouce to throw her up on TM $1 reserve auction... The large wrecker on Tremaine Ave Palmy North appears to save a lot of older cars that are coming hard to come by now. Also has a silver E39 Touring on the heap too btw.
