SHRNTA 48 Report post Posted January 26, 2021 Newly posted X5 4.6is. https://www.trademe.co.nz/2952709658 Looks like some work has gone into it. Nice and tidy, just not sure it's worth the asking price of $8,000 for a 290,000km 4.6is. I'm guess a new buyer would have to set aside about $8,000 to $10,000 for any outstanding/unknown issues. E46 M3 smg steering wheel is a nice addition. What's everyone's thoughts?
zero 1162 Report post Posted January 26, 2021 Looks well looked after, but $5k prob needs to be set aside for chain guides if they haven't been done yet
treone 648 Report post Posted January 26, 2021 What about this one: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2950894624?bof=YZ79LrrT Pretty rare?
TermiPeteNZ 1319 Report post Posted January 27, 2021 Yes - two nice, rare E53s up for sale! 4.6is is the rarest but the 4.8is is arguably a better vehicle. Despite the higher KMs I think $8K is fair given the amount of work done. Biggest jobs on these are chain guides and trans rebuild(!) - which will likely have been done already given the KMs. I'd love to switch to one of these special editions but have sunk too much into my 4.4i which is on 248KMs. 🙄 I don't really know what makes sense any more
treone 648 Report post Posted January 27, 2021 Which one would be worth a gamble on? 😁 Timing chain guides and Valve seals an issue with the 4.8?
zero 1162 Report post Posted January 27, 2021 n62 has its own issues, so both will need a fair bit set aside for mantenance.
SHRNTA 48 Report post Posted January 27, 2021 Wow the 4.8is is stunning. I'm a bit tempted by either, but yeah i'd still have to set aside a bit i think for maintence which brings me to this listing? 2003 BMW X5 VERY RARE / SUPER LOW KMS | Trade Me Motors Under 100,000 kms for 1 dollar less than $20k? You'd hope there's no issues with it and perhaps get a warranty???

Nothing that seat covers can't fix though! Edited January 27, 2021 by treone

zero 1162 Report post Posted January 27, 2021 If I had to buy one of these x5's with my own money I would get the first 4.6is because its rarer, and the seller says the chain guides have been done
