gjm 3258 Report post Posted April 19, 2021 Who wants an E30 when you could have this? https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3060937618
Misty 42 Report post Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) I bought this car! Had a crazy family connection and had to have it. I spotted my dad's car (74 Tii race car) in the background of his last Trademe pic. In the paperwork pile with the car, there was old pictures of my late father at the same meets as his late father with both of their 2002's in the early 2000's. A beautiful coincidence. Very very happy. Edited April 22, 2021 by Misty

Misty 42 Report post Posted June 18 Well, 3 years later, she’s had an extensive resto and nearly back on the road. I got a little carried away..
gjm 3258 Report post Posted June 18 Gorgeous. There's a yellow one that has just sold from north of Auckland - dereg, resto started. I hope the new owner does as much as you have.

Misty 42 Report post Posted June 18 Cheers guys! Thinking about wheels. The tyres that are on it are 42 years old so will be coming off. Was thinking the E21 13's on it would look cool reconditioned with polished dishes and gold painted centres... Or just bite the bullet and try to find some 15 inch Alpina style?! Misty 42 Report post Posted June 18 @Neil McCauley Dad was also a good friend of Bob McMillan and they passed in the same year so a fitting tribute to both of them.

This car was previously featured in the BMW Car Club NZ quarterly magazine DIXI under Hagen's ownership, great accounts of his Dad buying the car, trips through the continent etc, Alpina options. If you've not joined the club yet, you should consider it. There's undoubtedly a story in your recent restoration work too. As for what wheels, IMHO keep it on what it's got - those BBS Mahle rims are period correct and what his Dad put on at the time. The only other option in keeping with that could be the 15" version if you can find some. Cheers.
Misty 42 Report post Posted August 4 Thanks for the info and will consider joining. My Dad was a member for a long time. Had a great yarn to Hagen re his Dad's ownership when purchasing. I love the Diana star-shaped alloys of the period and the BBS wheels that were on it were an incorrect fit. I quite like how it sits on these steelies for now too! Cheers, Rob
