Nickinoo 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2021 So I was just wondering if a higher octane fuel will damage or benefit my bimmer, its my first 2012 x1, currently running on 91 was wanting to see if 95 would be better. Thanks for any feedback.
curryinahurry 39 Report post Posted April 27, 2021 Hi Nicki, your x1 (regardless of engine size) should be running on premium only (95 or 98). Ethanol blends or not is not critical. They tend to knock and run poorly on 91 and you should feel a significant improvement in performance on premium particularly under load. Personally, I don't find any difference between 95 or 98, so I would run on whichever is available.

M3AN 4016 Report post Posted April 28, 2021 I agree with @curryinahurry in case you needed additional assurance. Skip the 91.
Reeno 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2022 Hi there, similar question to above. What is the best fuel octane for a G20 330i. I was going to go with 95... Just picked it up on Monday, super excited!
Navin 180 Report post Posted July 19, 2022 95 or 98 will be fine for it. As above, just skip 91. Enjoy the G20, have had mine for 2 years and still love it
Neal 543 Report post Posted July 21, 2022 In my e36 I found running on 98 would increase its range by 20 - 30 km per tank which offset the price difference at the time. Have always run higher octane. Better for the engines in BMW
