Staggered/Squared?

Recommended Posts

Currently on factory specs 275/40/20 9.5x20 et45 & 315/35/20 10.5x20 et30. Have been thinking of running a squared setup with 315’s/10.5’s all round.

Anyone know of issues this may cause? I have read on other forums that it can lead to extra effort in turns, oversteer, accelerated wear on wheel bearings, decreased braking & hydroplaning?

Any advice is appreciated.

Biggest difference will be increased front tyre wear.

And likely clearance issue

Tracking and hydroplaning would be my biggest concerns, plus you save a few bucks buying the smaller front tyres.

I changed to square 235/40/18 on 8.5J on my E46 and prefer it (although it did have undersized tyres on when I got it - E82 sizes).

I find it feels a little livelier in the rear (far less understeer) but for day to day driving, it is susceptible to tramlining more.
