Castrol 10w60 Supercar discontinued ??

Recommended Posts

From what I can tell 10w60 Supercar has been discontinued, Castrol is rebranding that range and it looks like in APAC there will only be 10w60 Edge. Does anyone know if this is the case? I guess the next question is what to move to as a replacement, while not cheap Supercar was at least affordable when compared to Motul or Liqui Moly.

Last time I was at the local dealership I asked, out of curiosity, about what the recommended oil for the v10 is. Their reply was that full synthetic 5w-30 is now recommended - and is for most of the high performance engines. I’m too scared to put this in after having rod bearings done 😢

I have read the same, and I'm also hesitant to go to the 5w30.

Yeah, I too would be a little hesitant about using anything other than Castrol 10W-60.
I bought 10L of it from Palmside Automotive in CHCH a couple of weeks back. At that stage they had an over 20 x 5L packs still in stock.
$90+GST per 5L.

The new bottle Castrol 10w-60 is still M car approved. Looks and smells the same too lol.

Pretty sure I've seen this done before...... image.jpeg.a87ebe125058d3b478419889829c21f3.jpeg

yep I used it in my M3. Meets all the same specs. Mostly just seems like a packaging change.

What about this as an alternative? - https://www.repco.co.nz/oils-fluids/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/penrite-10-tenths-premium-10w-60-engine-oil-5l-fs10w60005/p/A1262679

Disclaimer: my knowledge and interpretation of oil specs and associated science = below zero %.  i.e. I have no idea what 10w-60 actually means other than it is original spec/grade 🤣
