2 pointsi know what you mean, they keep fixing the roads all over where I live, so much gravel, they hit the car and the windshield. I have seen usually crashes happen on the roads close to home, the ones you have been a million times, the ons you just "know", and all of a sudden you feel your head hurts(?) maybe from the enourmous driving pleasure, or that your confidence of driving a car that drives like its on rails and the fact of knowing the road so well that you feel just cant go wrong, this feeling takes over, then you make one little mistake and failure to react properly or in time and boom, it comes outta nowhere. I have see some crashes before, funny story i went to see a car and the woman said her daughter recently had a crash in her 5 series(or was it 7?) Anyway truck got her from the side through the drivers door, she suffered some leg damage but was unscratched otherwise. I think parents bought her another one now. dont listen to blue, he just pretends not to be a cheapscape, kinda like me ..see he hasn't crashed enough cars yet, he gets put off because I parked my car in a ditch so now I am ditch boy. Take care man, and happy and safe driving, go fast, just a lttle bit, but not too fast, just enough, just enough but then slow down a bit more around the corners...and then go faster again all the best driving, be safe and take care

1 pointGot an offer I couldn't refuse but from a private seller in the US so a bit of a gamble. Hence why I'm not getting too excited yet.

1 pointWhats this nonsense, the roof is suede!!! The door cards haven't been recovered because suede has no stretch and I haven't found any stretch fabric to do them with yet. Furthermore, silver will stick out better so people can see you in the ditch

1 pointAwesome stuff! Precisely the same thing happened to me when pulling off door cards, I think the adhesive that holds the plastic panels to the card just decays and when you pull off the door card, the plastic panels get left behind. I used gorilla glue to much the same effect.

1 pointTest fitted a V8 Vantage rear muffler for my 1UZ V8 E36, seems like it is going to fit quite well! Need to modify the brackets to hold it in place now, then get the mid section welded up asap, I want to hear this thing!!!

1 pointthanks for the tips was contemplating on the m50 mani, but few people on this forum said to stick with the m52 one because of loss low end torque and not being enough of a gain top end, but yes i have been on the lookout for some nice cams and then getting it chipped! aw man hope the damage isn too serious, i know what its like. Last year i stupidly left my car at the top of a steep driveway in neutral handbrake down and ran into the house and heard a massive thump. Car went through the house. dented my nose panel and hood, "Never take on an e34" lol but nope hehe e36 has been my project all year long and plan to do alllooooooot to it still, have a little ask around im sure someone would point you in the direction of a good example 328i

1 pointThe white 540i looks a very good buy on paper. The other one not so much at 200K+ kms and those ridiculous M6 20" wheels... Not that you're actually going to buy anything, you're just going to talk about buying... Forever.

1 pointStainless steel brake lines in, new pads and rotors to come soon. There's a good reason I'm beefing up the brakes. Will reveal all in the next few weeks. Finally got round to removing the deadweight (Jap GPS and nav) in the boot.

1 pointI know what you mean, have you ever taken your 5 up mt. tiger? thats where I go when I want some real twisty driving, fast, slow, fast, break, turn, turn again, speed off... Kamo is good too, but its too open and straight. But the 318i was hella fun around corners, the m50 just felt bloated and handeling wasn't as confident. what do you say Allan... should I take the plunge and take it for 6K ish? Have the e36/328i's in good condtion hit rock bottom? As in could I sell it off in a few years without taking a big hit? (if I didn't park it again infront of your house.? that good ol chubby blue is probably drunk by now like boris yatsin @ the fall of the USSR nope, its only 4pm, cant be time for him to wake up yet.

1 pointI wouldn't get too hung up on the exhaust on a 20+ year old car - it's probably been replaced and so long as it isn't a dustbin (as so often found on Subarus and the like these days) and it works appropriately, it'll be fine. Personally, I think the grey/silver coupe is a better bet as it has the suspension you'll like. However, I appreciate the attraction of being able to buy locally. Good luck!

1 pointSorry Blue, my post was in response to Eagle`s post. You`re right, I bought my car nz new, 2 owners same family in Auckland. A mate went around to check it out, it was smoking a bit and the consensus was rocker cover gasket. So what, I paid him what he wanted ( bargain anyway)and got it trucked down to ChCh. Ive got it sorted now, heck of a car, and the vendor got his money before I`d even touched the thing. Remember though, we are talking BMW here. Worth the risk ????

1 pointStrut Tower Bar Woohoo! It arrived today despite Track & Trace telling my it's still in Chicago. That was a nice surprise because I thought it was being held up by the weather. It's a lovely piece of kit, emulating the LTW/GT OEM bar. I got it off Road Rally who are great to deal with and seem to know everything about these cars. It's not inexpensive but I wanted the OEM look. http://www.rallyroad.net/content/rally-road-bmw-e36-strut-tower-bar It's a very heavy duty piece but surprisingly light at the same time. Fitting was challenging at first because it can be adjusted and tightened in multiple places but on she went. And I just had to add ///M badges as per the OEM version... I'm delighted with the aesthetic appeal and it will compliment the x-brace I have down there.
