1 pointI really like this colour scheme, but I have a silver car. Yes I could wrap the entire car, but it would be easier (cheaper) if we could use the same shapes, but colours compatible with Silver. Ideally it would stand out a little. What goes well with Silver as a contrast ? Sample Car My car Anyone good with photoshop ?

1 pointCan anybody recommend some spots in Auckland for some long straight pulls. Need to do some data logging, long, straight, flat and quiet
-
1 pointNoted But calm down every one, just for a couple of pulls. I don't think the squad cars are on there way. If I am organising for 100+ cars I'll hire a helicopter and scanners like in the movies

1 pointA few years ago, we were heading out south from CHCH, on the open road at 100kph. We end up behind this knob doing about 80-90kph, swerving around his lane a bit, so the first passing lane we get to we boost off past him, only to see why he was driving so sh*t. He was watching a portable DVD player, that he was holding with his thumbs in the middle of his steering wheel. I sh*t you not, crazy bastard. Too young back then to know about *555 etc, so we just made sure to put a lot of distance between us.

1 pointYeah gave them permission haha Despite the fact they used laughable footage of me.. But hey I had fun

1 pointSeems to be just about impossible for 80% of drivers in NZ from what I have experienced.
-
1 point^^ Merge like a zip? Merging like a button is probably a better analogy for most drivers though who try to push into a space just a bit smaller than their car.

1 pointRear brakes have arrived. They are a essentially a fast road / track day AP 4 pot which sit on the std OEM rotor. Not as nice as my front 'full on' competition 4 pots and rotor, but better than the OEM setup. Didn't want to overcook the rear (subject to testing) as we wanted to ensure we got it up to operating temps (a risk if you go too big on the rear).

1 pointi heard some hawk pads (not sure which ones) are specifically for race/track use due to their ceramic composition ... which as we all have heard from multiple reviewers etc, ceramic composition brake components need heat to be effective ..

1 pointim sure hes not a bad person or trying to do some sneaky business. i just want him to understand that sometimes things like this happen where its probably no ones fault and its just upto us to remedy the situation. if he got a proper report done and sent me proof of it i would have been happy to go halves or maybe pay the whole thing but he straight up said full refund with no proof no nothing. start talking about court and CGA, no good. cant come to a peaceful resolultion that way.

1 pointI have an m20b20 engine for sale. It's out of my E30 facelift and has done 250,000kms, i'm not sure what has been done to it over the years, she starts everytime, doesn't use oil and i am selling it as a complete unit. It has been well looked after with regular oil and filter changes. This will be available in around 2 weeks as it is still currently in my car and will remain there until it is sold so you can see it running and take it for a drive if you want to. Just wanted to let everybody know so they can purchase it with confidence as like all engines this age, there are some kms on them. It will not come with the starter motor or flywheel as these are required for my transplant, not interested in seperating stuff out as i dont have anywhere to store it, as soon as someone buys it, i will pull it out that weekend so they can come and pick it up. PM me if your are interested and well come to a price thats fair for both.

1 pointWell Miss, Thats probably about the best lesson a new driver could get. Us generation X'ers had to learn the hard way through tough and unforgiving circumstance in what were (in reflection) fairly unsafe conditions. Back in the day police wouldn't touch or look at vehicles. That was for the TC's and if they pulled you over you got a ticket for something, they'd keep looking till they found something so they didn't feel they were wasting their time. Their job was traffic and only traffic, and they weren't everywhere, most NZ towns had just one lone TC. The police dealt with burglary and whoever it was that punched someone in the mouth down the pub on friday night. Vintage escorts and cortinas could be had for $600-$800. If you wanted to chop springs and throw 3ltr V6's in you could, no cert required. So long as the lights and indicators worked you were legal. XY coons, VG valiants and HG holdens didn't cost much more. The full on safety features of a bmw e36 was a brand new vehicle back then and completely out of reach for anyone I knew. We did dumb sh*t all the time, deliberately. There wasnt anything else to do, and practically no one to stop us. Bulletproof kids with no road skills let loose in cheap vehicles with the only redeeming safety feature being a seatbelt, actually my mk1 consul didn't have seatbelts, never came with them from the factory so wasn't a requirement for wof, neither did my split Kombi's or an a100 prefect I had. Must have been mid-late 90's seatbelts were compulsory across the board. I do wonder if those of my generation who grew up caning and crashing these old classics and survived ended up being a more cautious driver now, probably not. Interesting to speculate what might have happened in your scenario with these older cars though. If id hit a concrete wall at 28mph in my kombi id have a concussion at minimum from smacking my forehead on the heater channel or panel above the windscreen, maybe cracked ribs on the steering wheel. I'd have been fine in my XR coon, would have just bounced off and kept driving. My mk1 consul would have rolled at the initiation of the turn and been sliding on its roof well before it even reached the wall. Thats a good stack to walk away from. And now ive reminisced of the safety aspect of what I grew up with and recall what our mums used to drive us around in, that volvo may as well be a NASA space shuttle in comparison. My old lady had a ford anglia with biscuit crossply's. Lol!

1 pointMaybe it means to not put bmw caps on a non bmw wheel! Lol im just kidding.

1 point5x120 is the stud pattern. 5 is obviously the number of studs or bolt holes and the 120 is the diameter of the studs (mm) as in the picture below. For example e30 is 4x100, 4 lug holes and a diameter of 100mm The offset is the distance from the mounting face to the centerline of the wheel (measured in mm). Zero offset means the mounting face is in line with the centerline of the wheel. Positive means the mounting face is towards the outside of the wheel. Negitive is the opposite, mounting face towards the inside of the wheel. Higher positive offsets are generally found on front wheel drive cars. Negitive offsets are generally associated with large amounts of dish (with a large width). BMW's run positive offsets. E28, E30, E34, E38, E39 etc (The majority of the BMW range) run offsets in the range of 15-25 running normal factory widths. The E36 chassis (E36/Z3), E46 (non M3), E53, E70, E8X, E9X all run higher offsets in the range of 35-45 running factory widths. The E21 and the E30 are the only E code bimmers that run 4 stud. The rest of the range runs 5x120. As the wheels get wider the offset you will need for the car will change as if you increase the width but keep the same offset the wheel will get wider evenly on both sides and may either hit the strut or the guard. Generally as you get wider you would want to lower the offset as you have more room to work under the guards than towards the strut. Hope that helps.
