Thanks so much Ray. Great to see you, and awesome to do work on such a special car. Just thought I'd mention to Bimmersporters that even though I no longer own a BMW - happy to set anyone up with a deal if they want any work done! Just call/text or email me - 021926299 - [email protected] Have just posted up the full album of this car on my Facebook page too, https://www.facebook.com/attentiontodetailnz/posts/1489696861292715

Stumbled across this, for those 7er lovers... http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/11/02/bmws-secret-7-series-model-e32-prototype-with-6-7l-v16-engine/ Might have been posted before but a search revealed nothing so apologies if this is old news.

You did such a good job with your suspension, why not tackle it yourself? Don't think anyone will be stupid enough to do assist with your death machine for $300.

Today I replaced the lower control arm bushes on my E36 with powerflex bushes. Once I get some spring compressors, I can change the struts out and install the Motorsport sway bay, yee ha!

The car finally runs again.. Installed new expansion tank after work, added new coolant, bled system etc. The only thing is now I have no coolant level sensor, as I assumed it came with the expansion tank. But i'll keep an eye on things anyway. Annoyingly my old expansion tank is already at he land fill..with the old sensor that still worked fine..

I'd say $1400 is still worth it compared to getting a set of crappy china rims. Will look into this as a christmas present to myself if the timing guides/transmission/torque converter/vanos things dont explode before then.

most of the dudes you see driving late model supercars around here are foreigners... young ones at that

Because funnily enough, you don't have to know english to make money.

It'd be a very smooth engine but relatively underpowered by today's standards.

Lol. 3pedals, you must commute around in a homicidal rage seeing you have a demented fixation with how a car handles, but you drive something with the aerodynamics of a cement block and a center of gravity resembling a ferris wheel. *edit: OP, Go drive both. You'll end up with the extra 2 cylinders - Why have six when you can have eight? If gas mileage was a consideration we'd all be driving Mitsubishi Mirage's and Honda Civics. I can get under 10L/100KM driving like a nana on the motorway, or 16-19L/100KM driving way heavier than we're allowed to on the road anyway. Your e39 will handle fine regardless of either engine, you're not the resurrected Ayrton Senna so you're probably going to drive for the most part like everyone else does. I can steer my old boat around corners and over shitty lumpy NZ roads just fine without falling off it.

625nm at 3900rpm. That would be rather lovely.

3rd party on a 7-10k car? (guessing) I've got full insurance on my $100 dollar banger that I bought. I'm guessing it made quite a difference in the price to insurance?

I thought that was a pretty price seeing as spec.dock is $159 NZD + shipping : http://specdock.com/car/make/bmw/3-series/1999-2005/bmw-3-series-1999-2005-iphone-and-iphone-dock-116.html Even with having to buy yourself another lightning cable for $20 at $139 it's still pretty good The finished finish would be a sanded and 3 coat colour painted finish. I could do matte, satin or gloss finish in black or matched to the silver trim - your choice
