Yeah it works but you have to move the throttle pedal to the middle and use it as a brake pedal and use a clutch pedal from an early model e31 as the throttle pedal.

Id just like to commend all you bmw competitors on being some of the best people ive dealt with during racing. I was on the entry gate at taupo today as a fundraiser for our local volunteer fire brigade. Bit of a thankless job in the wind and rain for 8 hours. Of all the different race series there.today you guys came in with the best attitudes around. No grief at all with "missing tickets" or trying to bring other people in. And noone in a rush trying to speed us up. And on the way out only people who consistantly gave us a wave or a toot. Not to mention. 4 of you gave us free tickets to give to people coming in. 1 of you gave us cookies and another gave us pizza. And for the guys who left early you missed the part where the wind got so bad the start light gantry got ripped off the wall and collapsed over the track before the last race started.

kms are kms full stop. Its not just the engine that gets worn but everything, interior, suspension, gearbox... everything.

So!! They're finally done!!! Well, almost. Got all 136 gold spikes bolted, torqued, and lock tited up last night after spending the week painting the inside of the barrels. Just need to figure out what tyre sizes I can run and to glue the polished stainless caps onto the centre caps Then to start on the style 40's

I would rather a car with genuine 180-200ks with proper maintenance rather than a fresh import with unknown history at 100ks with no record of any cooling system service or whatever.

It's getting there. Steering's horrible thanks to worn splines on the pitman arm but that will be sorted this week, and the belt tensioners will get rid of an annoying squeak when you change gear at high revs. Other than that engine's running well. I replaced a couple of bad leads with some used ones from Brent but will replace all of the ignition leads soon with new. Then the big job is removing the manifolds and valve covers so I can clean them up and repaint them. I'll fit the refurb'd throttle bodies I picked up that should smooth out the throttle response and I'll be able to fix a small vac leak at the same time from the throttle body gasket on the left hand bank. After all that I reckon it'll be as good as new. She's already very smooth with a lot of effortless power so I'm pretty excited about how she'll drive once all that maintenance is done and the chips and 3.64 final drive are in.

jeez, you think 180,000km is too high for a 20 year old E36? Good luck.

Topgaiters on ebay is brilliant - specify RHD if they're different in E36's. He send me a LHD E39 boot, but sent the correct one very quickly at no charge when I pointed out the mistake (It was a RHD listing). ZHP's knobs on Amazon are OK priced (about NZ$115 shipped).
