Went to Torque performance today to health check the recent vanos rebuild and Supersprint exhaust install. Net result is an increase from 172wkw to 184wkw and a safer air/fuel fix. Still running stock ECU, but plan to chip it soon. Note: The delivery has changed on the chart (ignore RPM for blue) as we have changed the diff from a 3.15 to a 3.91 (and we ramped up the LSD) This gives massive punch from corners, great fun! great power slides!

There are definately the E30s in NZ to beat that, must be easily 120 here alone. People just cant be bothered/afford coming south of the Bombay's, spending all thier money on rent and mortgauges.

In 1978 as a nine year old i was fortunate enough to travel to Germany with my now departed Grandma. We spent a year there, learning the language, going to school and doing lots of traveling. It was on one of these adventures unbeknown to myself, that we happened to end up at a car factory.Bavarian Motor Works none other. She took delivery of a brand new Pale Yellow(green cloth interior) E12.That whole experience left quite an impression on me.Of course the car is long gone but i still have the original German plates. After her passing a few years back my desire to own my own Bmw grew.An E30 M3 popped up on Trademe and so i went to see it.I instantly fell in love. The kind people at Botany Motor Works carried out an inspection for me....yes it had a few problems but nothing really major.I sat on it.....should i buy it???Then the owner called me to say i could have it for $21500.Even at that time it was a great deal.Once again i thought about it....a few days too long and it got snapped up by an Austrailian Enthusiast.Im still kicking myself to this day After some searching for another classic i read an ad once again on trade me for an E28 535i.The description was average. The photos were average too.But upon seeing it i just about wet my pants. It was in amazing condition and had been pampered to death.A barn find if ever there was one......in Nz that is.So for the cool sum of $5K it was in my garage.A car man at heart i couldnt but help personalise it a little.. The E28 was such an enjoyable drive but i really missed having a manual box.It was too good to convert and as such was advertised again.A new home was very quickly found....in fact the new owner paid my asking price sight unseen, flew up from Hastings and drove home.He says he often just stands in the garage at night and just stares at it!!! Having missed the E30 M3 i started the search again.Well 2 1/2 years of worldwide appreciation now made owning one beyond my reach.....for now.On a trip down to Chch i met a fella in Wellington and very quickly checked out his E36 M3.Seemed like a decent bloke, car was garaged, full service history with stamped service book, new rotors, pad, shocks, bushes, shock mounts, black nappa interior,NZ New......took it for a very quick drive(had a ferry to catch)and once again fell in love!!! After a few weeks of negotiation i was on a plane back to Welly to have a closer look.To be honest it only took 5 mins and the deal was done.So next up was 670km drive back to Auckland!!!What a hoot this car aws to drive...i found myself laughing out loud at how well it just went about business. It just gobbled up the desert rd and pretty much anything that came its way.A couple of VERY close calls with the Constabulary,a few Bp coffees and one tank of feul and i was home. What an introduction to M3 ownership. Well thats me for now and no doubt more to come in the future.Hampton Downs???

That car is an identity crisis. Also it grinds my gears when dealers state "IN THE BEST COLOUR/TRIM COMBINATION-MISANO RED/LOTUS WHITE NAPPA LEATHER." wuuuut thats totally subjective... personally no cars suit cream/white leather

Thanks and yes I've already decided to keep original headlights - I am a fan of keeping collectible cars as close to original as possible. This car is definitely a keeper..........

A big thank you to Steve, Justin and Garett from SD European for their help in getting the E28 running at Taupo. Great guys, helpful to the extreme, seems to be what the Race Series is all about. They also got Neville going in the coupe, so thank you boys.

Ha I disappear for a few weeks and I've missed all the action. Yep should've kept the Avus one, was a great car. I'm glad to hear he's minted it. Ray's deal was very tempting but add to that re-ringed Vanos units and swapping engines, it added up pretty quickly so decided to do shells with BM Workshop for a very reasonable price (Graeme has been fantastic once again). I'm happy to resurrect what is otherwise a good, low KM S62. Thanks all for your advice, I'm just looking forward to be driving one again. Need a new rear boot lid (Kiwi one) and front bumper if anyone knows of any sitting around.

If I was only doing Highway / city driving in the car - wouldn't get the IC + other mods - But I take my car quite regularly to track days, so heat management is a issue -

Fair enough. It's always a good idea to upgrade the intercooler with the increased boost. Though it all comes down to driving style in a way. 95% of the time I shift at 3,000-3,500 rpm and treat the car kindly. The other 5% is during on ramp blasts and overtaking manoeuvres. I probably won't worry with a larger intercooler because of that, but I would if I spent more time on full throttle.

Needs the supporting mods imo - especially on the cooling side - Platform imo is pretty impressive where without touching the engine or turbo's you can gain on 98 - 100HP gain E40+ - 140+HP gain Guys in the US with their single turbo upgrades are running over 700+ RWHP and still haven't found the limits on the oem parts in the engine yet..... Interesting to hear about the stage1 maps, as with the last dyno day the other two 335i's were running the cobb, quite a big difference between the 2 Driftracewake was running a stage1 cobb map and Josh was running a PTF Cobb map - Found the DP's were about 30-35hp dyno gain... so substantial , less back pressure etc Wait till you run a ethanol map on the car, that's when it really wakes up Am running a stacked setup, where I have a flash map loaded like the Cobb doing fueling, vanos etc + I have the JB4 controlling boost and few other functions btw krish - are you running the Alpina TCU flash on your AT? - if not should look at getting it

Lucan is right unfortunately buddy, genuine 16" BBS in original 4x100 are the holy grail. I've been looking for over a year now in NZ and have only ever seen 1 set. They were fantastically/disgustingly wide and are priced above 2.8k. If you are looking for replicas I have seen them for around 1.2k but they look awful
