Yeah, the whole subframe went in as they (late model ones) have a lower sweep angle (12° vs 15°) than the E30, and the toe-control links. Made the rear end so much more stable for cornering (esp. when bumpy), and straight line traction as it doesn't toe-in when it squats. [edit: not that it squats too much anyway with #350 springs in the rear]

I wonder how they respond to an ECU reflash....

The mini........ Started life as a 1963 mk1 bog standard 850. i love nostalgia and the cars I build, I want to invoke the feel, and smell of what it was like. I can't afford the real thing, so I make it. I happened to come across a car that had already had the body resto done and painted the right colour still on its original rego for a couple of grand. The mini is now an exact tribute car to the mk1 cooper bmc "works" rally car of 1963. It has taken 3 years and a lot of searching, but everything on that car is period correct and from the 60s both interior and exterior. It now has a 1275 engine and is heaps of fun. It's a keeper and will be my daughters in time (she's 4). Same with the e30, again all period correct parts to "relive" another time. maybe they'll be worth something one day, maybe not....I don't care. It all about how it makes you feel. And the point being for anyone out there, is that you don't have to have a lot of cash to create something special, just pick the car you love from the past and recreate it. Cheers

Almost as long as you have dragged out the whole Automatics suck thing. Anyway. I am looking forward to the new show. I already have Amazon Prime which is awesome. Did you ever drive one? Streets ahead of any other small hatch at the time, and light years ahead of modern Civics (when you turn the steering wheel they roll, and then turn) and Corollas (wheelspin from rest if you even think about turning the wheel)

1996 or thereabouts. His commute is 1300km per week. It's disgusting, it gets an oil change every 8 weeks and basically light bulbs and wipers as needed... and that's it. Last cambelt went for 400,000km before he decided maybe it wanted a new one. I still refuse to own one.

Is there a Hartge H35 in NZ? Saw a black M3-a-like on SH1 this morning. LHD, obviously. Thought "that looks nice, although ride height may be a little off for an E30 M3." Did a double take... No BMW badges at all. Nothing. It was stationery in the left lane on the approach to Papakura from Drury. Hartge logo on left side rear, H35-24 badge on right side rear. Correct elevated rear spoiler. Correct flattened oval tailpipe. Correct Hartge rims (from the look of them) with centre cap logo. Hartge logo on the right (passenger) side of the front grill. Very shiny. Very, very very nice.
