https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1467622177.htm Or perhaps this was done by Mike... Surely there can't be two people out there slipping a little japanese into a german?

Reminds me of your average Japanese modified car, they always seem to spend alot on power train and skimp out on handling\suspension. Cheapest coilovers with big rims and sh*t tyres seems to be the combo.

I know its been discussed a million times but dont see what the big deal is with german plates. It is still reflective, still clear to read and a good alternative to paying megabucks to "kiwiplates" and their monopoly over this whole thing. The police should stick to preventing crime and actual police duties instead of taking the quick revenue seeking, door to door salesman approach. Sure, pull over anyone being suspicious or with offensive plates and penalize them if it does not match what the car is supposed to have but as long as you are making the correct combination that matches your rego sticker, surely its not an issue.

Very good point. The Valeo kit is the same / similar weight as the DMF - which to me negates the point of going SMF. Since my initial post I've been reading more about the Sachs/FX SMF which is closer to 7 kg https://gripforce.com/sachs-oem-clutch-kit-and-flywheel-bmw-323-325-328-i-is-m3-z3-m-e36-525i-e34-528i-e39/

I realise this is an old thread but having fitted a new set of RE003s on my 335i I thought I would give an updare. The old front tyres were Nitto 830s and out back were a set of RE050 run flats. First impressions are that the front end is a lot more precise, turn in is noticeably more direct and I feel like it goes were it should now. The rear has a bit more compliance but grip wise it seems to be at least as good as the 050s maybe even better. I never really felt I could trust the run flats on anything other than bowling green smooth roads, they had a lot of harshness and the ride was jittery. On a typical NZ road with a few undulations and irregularities mid corner the 003 is just so much more predictable. I was considering S001s but having had them on my 335i on the original 17s I didnt think they were appreciably better than the 003s, not a fair comparison I know as one is a 40 series and one is 35. I suspect on a track the S001 would show its advantages. To sumarise I now have much sharper and more accurate turn in, the car feels more predictable and overall grip levels in the dry are higher especially up front. Later this week I am driving another 335 with 19s and its running some Falkens, I will report back when I have given it the 48 corner test.

Cracked it! One step in Glenn's instructions wasn't quite right. His step 2 says wait for 5 seconds, other instructions I found said it needs to be done quickly (key in, onto position 2 / ignition on, then off & remove in under 5 seconds) this did the trick for me. For anyone else with same issue, try this: 1. Get in and close all doors 2. Turn the ignition on &off quickly (no more than 5 seconds) to start the process. Next action must take place within 30 seconds 3. First key -hold down button #2 (unlock -on the bottom left with the key blade pointing up) while striking button #1 (lock -~he BMW logo) three times. Release button #2. This should be confirmed by door lock operation. 4. If you have more than 1 key then you need to repeat for the other keys within 30 seconds of first or they will be rendered inactive. 5. After last key then cycle the ignition on/off to finalise the process (it is not necessary to start the engine).
