I find it a bit strange that when I got my M5 nobody mentioned its lifecycle co2 emissions, but when I told people I was getting a leaf its all I heard about.

Hi folks First time BMW owner here from the Naki with a 2006 LCI E85 Z4 Roadster 3.0si. Loving it so far and looking forward to plenty of summer cruising with the top down. Hopefully will get to catch up with some of you in NP over the coming months. Cheers, Phillip

Would be a good project for someone over the summer. Need a little bit of work which is what turned me off. Not mine, located at pick-a-part takanini. Manager there said he'd take $300. 17"x8" et20 square set. Tyres look OK.

You don't get 10km/L from an E61 M5 either.... ESPECIALLY with Andrew driving it

Hey Will thought I’d give you an update on fitting the Alpina reps and tyres. As you say and without going to to a race tyre, options were very limited with matching rears in a 45 series to a 205/50x16 front so have gone with a 215/50 rear. Width is supposedly minimum for an 8” and there’s a 10 mm diff rd to the front but reckon they look great and handle like on rails. Had to roll rear guards.

Well 6 months later the dream has finally come a reality. Probably the best Christmas present I could ask for. Its been worth the 2.5years to finally be able to drive a car that I built myself in the garage. All she needs now is a wof and ‘tara’ will be on the street. Modifying a car from the other end of the island has been a challenge to say the least but it’s done now and I can enjoy it for what it is. Bring on summer! I will get some more updated pics when I’m with the car and hope to button up all the little bits left.

Haha cheers. I think I've seen one or two Alpine white M3's over the past 2 years on TradeMe... Very rare indeed but my favourite too! I haven't owned an M3 before but have driven a few and am aware of the things to look out for! Kms and colour are just some guideline's I've set for now Yes this one..... I had contacted the seller in the morning after the auction was listed and was on the way to view the car, just as I was advised that someone had bought it and paid a deposit. Very gutted!! Yes I've seen them, not quite what I'm looking for at the moment but thank you!

Thanks Brent. It's far from a done-deal at the moment, but I will be needing to find something. And (no offense intended to those living there!) getting away from Auckland would be A Good Thing. I have fingers out in the BoP, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Taranaki and Waikato. Of course, it is completely the wrong time of year to try to find anything.

I did purchase the car in Auckland but this was on a recent trip up at Hobsonville Point. Great spot for photos down there!

Not sure who "these clowns" are, but my decision to buy an ev was 90% financial, any environmental benefit is a bonus. Of course the financial benefit only applies the first time you switch from an ice car to an ev, but for me it means the vehicle has a payback period of approx 4 years. Also the environmental argument depends largely on where the vehicle is used and how the electricity is genereated, NZ is a special place that generates most of its electricity from renewables and imports 100% of its petrol, so I'm happy with my decision, everyone else can make their own!

I'm looking at doing a transmission flush and all the references online are for US-based products which are non-trivial to find here. What ATF do folks use for their e39 transmissions? Looking for some LT 71141 compatible ATF, I can get the ZF stuff, at ~$25/L or trademe/SCA has Valvoline/Royal Syntrans/Penrite at ~$15/L.
