The Horror... Hoped I'd never seen another of these after I left Canada 15 years ago. The are hopeless in all aspects, purely marketed to 'rich old guys' looking for nostalgia with a warranty (when new). Not made in manual... says it all.

This guy must of taken his photos with a potato. Great way to advertise a $47k car

Maybe. If you don’t have a donor then add probably $2000+ to repair that rust if you want it done properly and not half assed, that’s if you can’t do it yourself then great. Then replace boot seals around lid and lights and aerial. That textured paint around where the rust is doesn’t look original so could be hiding a lot more. Plus all the other stuff it could add up fast. It could be a half decent deal but could also be a money pit, at the end of the day it’ll be a 4 door engine swapped e30, cool for a select few but probably not $20k+ like he states as it’s certainly not mint even if no rust.

https://www.trademe.co.nz/5406365006 If your looking you have probably seen this. Something I never thought I would do. But priorities are changing at the moment. Absoulte example of a car.

In some European countries (Italy, of note) the road taxes on engines over 2000cc are huge. Hence the existence of the Masseratti Bi-Turbo...1998cc , twin turbo. In the old days taxes were done purely on engine size. 518... a 'luxury automobile' with small taxes. I'd contest the seller claim that most came with auto transmissions. Due to the small engine and 'engaged' nature of European drivers, I'd expect most came with manual gearboxes... but just a guess.

Seats look super comfy. Not much going for it otherwise.

Started today off with some odd jobs. New coolant expansion tank, I used an n55 one which all bolted up, has a much better level indicator which was the reason I made the switch, I even transferred over the factory Japanese sticker. Also did a new geniune BMW upper radiator hose, very surprised the old one was not leaking as it was completely f*!ked. Along with that I did a new hood latch as the old one didn't have the yellow rubber piece and was surface rusting and I installed a new power steering reservoir as with the M3 rack going in I want the whole system cleaned out. Next week I will be doing a new Eccentric shaft sensor as mine has been seeping oil though the pins and will be doing a new valve cover while I'm there as mine is original and there is no way I'm doing that good again any time soon. After that I will be dropping the front subframe to the the oil pan gasket, some new engine mounts and the water pump feed hose. I noticed when I did the water pump and thermostat that it was a bit swollen from past oil leaks and I have already replaced the other u-shaped hose next to it so that's the last one on my list.
