Got the seam sealer in and I await the certifier to come and take a look again before i can start to put things back together. Will be installing wiring before the head liner goes in for a dash cam also.

Id consider that to be a win. If you like the noise of a 116, you will love a 130

@KwS, got it, will upgrade in a few months' time. No wonder there are so many low KM's 116i's floating around in the market. Apparently, I had bought a mechanical breakdown warranty at the time of purchase, so my dealer told me he'll get all the issues fixed directly by BMW workshop.

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/435d/listing/4211217083 Not often these pop up for sale. Little bit poverty spec, but beggars can't be choosers. Less said about the wheels the better, but I can't think of many better ways to rip up the Cardrona hill to get some runs in, it even has the racks for your board! I've always wondered why the cooking diesel F3x's didn't get the twin pipe setup like the petrol 35i/40i, maybe due to X-Drive constraints?

The problem is 66k and 14 years... the 14 years trumps the 66k so all the 100k maintenance will need to be done pretty soon, cooling system, gaskets, shocks, brakes, etc... and it's very, very unlikely that, at 66k, any of that has been done. Unless it has $4k of receipts it's not a $12k car. And that people still think NZ new is actually a benefit is daft. Yes, a new import is a risk, but one that's been in country and driven for a couple of years already? No difference to NZ new. And does it have the expensive options, Xenons, iDrive, etc? Or is it "NZ spec"? I think almost anyone is better off picking up an $8k equivalent, there's enough of them, and put the $4k change in the kitty for bits and maintenance, pretty sure you'll come out ahead.

I try to teach my kids about road safety when out on bikes but keep striking drivers who think they're doing you a favour by ignoring the rules and just sit there waiting for you to ignore that give way or stop sign you're waiting at and move on out. I just have to vigorously wave them on and explain to the kids some people can't follow the rules 🙄

Anything but a 4 pot BMW. No one here is kidding when they say those engines are well known to be horrifically problematic, no matter how you look after them. BMW had some issues with engine design at that time.
