You are putting approx 230hp down at the wheels, 172kw x 1.34 = 230hp.That is pretty good, other 3.0 M3 owners would be similar over a small range + or - If you guess ( & that is all you can do) 20% max drivetrain losses, 20% + 230hp = 276 hp @ flywheel. Factory claim 286hp don't they, so that is within range.(morerevsm3 in Aussie started with 170kw on roller dyno)

The Sport Evo was called Evo 3, this last series was built with 2.5ltr engines. (238bhp@ 7000rpm) Never seen one of these for sale anywhere.(600 units) The ULTIMATE M3!!!!! Will post later if i have time an Evo 3 article, all about the extensive mods. (that right drive doesn't count anymore)

Going sideways in the thread here, but do you know about the italian 320is? Been looking at these for a while, basically a M325i shell LHD, loaded to M3 spec but a 2.0ltr engine. Sorry mate, but the only way to know flywheel power is if you remove the engine & place it on a bench engine dyno. Those dyno calculations are way out, thats what all the guys in the know told me.

$1085 divide by .46 =$2350 approx, depends on the exchange every day.

These guys sell nice carbon intake systems for E30 M3/ E36 M3/ E46 M3. If i had an M3 this would be my first enhancement, you need to get as much AIR into the cylinder. I think the lightweight version was a stripped out euro M3 made for US racer schools.

There is your answer, someone who has done it with a whopping 30kw@ wheels increase.......save up for a carbon intake system & go for full custom remap.

The USA only lightweight version was only 0.3 sec better, it's all academic, you can loose that & more on a bad start or gear change. As everyone knows when you get down to those times you need a lot of power to chop 2 seconds off!!!

Whats been said is basically correct, there was a GT version of the M3 which BMW built & it only had another 9bhp? To get more power you need more air in the engine(the hard part), more revs. Fuelling is the easy bit. I agree, looks alot better than a 2.7. I would say with full mapping you should be around 220-225 hp @ flywheel??
