  1. I've since bought some big OEM bumpers... but have lost interest and the car is up for sale for 3k all in. It does need some paint however. The parts alone are around 2k worth...if I don't sell then maybe I'll get a respray.
  2. Ok I know its the wrong forum but I'm selling the wife's Subaru to relace it with another BMW... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=94146382
  3. I'm a qualified Electrician...long time ago....then moved into IT and have been doing Project Management for around 17 years. I worked in both Electrical and IT Project Management for as long as I can remember... left UK for Singapore for 5 years with ING Bank, then came here with Westpac and now with the Ministry of Justice.
  4. The noise is still there even after the diff was tightened.... I'll need to check this weekend. Ont thing I noticed the sound is still audible when the car is in neutral and coasting.... but is more obvious after you take your foot off the accelerator whilst in gear???

Tsk what a shame... how can it get like that after 130k?
  6. The actual story is the diff itself was loose?? Not sure how that can happen... anyway they've checked and tightened every bolt. Hopefully that fixes it.

    Gamers?

I've got a PS One, chipped PS2, chipped Xbox and a Xbox 360. The PS2 and Xbox get the most use...loads of games. I'll only be looking to get a PS3 if some decent games are released. The PS2 or the Xbox will then go into the car.....the Wii is just a passing gimmick..I dont see it lasting too long.
  8. Thanks alot guys. The garage have called to advise that it was the driveshaft to the diff was loose and could have fallen out?? They say the thread is ok and it looks as if the bolts hadnt been tightened. I've never had the diff looked at so it must be some previous work.... they don't think they came loose because of another failing part. Luckily the car only travels short distances, so it's taken a while to appear. I'll let you know more tomorrow when I get it back.
  9. My e30 318is is making some strange noises when you power off the throttle... it sounds more like the exhaust is loose and knocks against the body a few times? (eg 2-3). It seems to be coming from the rear and more recently only when turning right. Checked the exhaust, pulled to and fro on the rear wheels, incase I had a bit of play on a bearing, but everything seems secure... any ideas?
  10. Well I bought my daughter (16 today) a Facelift 318is, 3 door, manual and with 196k's, sports seats, decent alloys etc... I have however left the car in my name and she's driving it as a named driver under my insurance for now. I keep telling her it's still mine...but she's ended up buying her own private plate...so I'm losing that battle! She's still at school so it's unlikely that she could afford her own insurance. I chose a 318is because its faster than the 318 and 320, but doesnt drink as much petrol as a 320/325. Being the early 16v engine, you need to get the revs really high to get any decent performance out of it... so at the moment its under utilised. Plus on top of that it's a BMW, it wont crumple if she gets into a crash and with the 318is you don't see too many of them here in NZ. My sons 13... he wants a M3 - Yeah Right!
  11. When did it arrive in NZ? How long has it sat around?
  12. Hmm I've never seen a VW in a Dimma Kit, not sure if it suited them really as the whole scene was about minimalism...mind you the French still go for big bodykits. Not for me I'm afraid...
  13. To be honest I prefer my e30... I'm losing interest in trying to do this one up
  14. As requested I thought I'd post some pics of my Golf...another project I'm trying to complete.... The car is a NZ New, Tornado Red 3 door Golf GTI 16V manufactured on 3rd July 1987. Its statistics are Odometer 301800km, Chassis WVWZZZ19ZHW806170, Engine KR050862, I’ve had it for around a few months and have only done around 200kms, as it only moves on weekends to have something polished or replaced!! It came from the factory with Electric mirrors, manual window winders and no central locking in the usual Red, Grey, Black striped interior with 14†Pirelli P alloys. It drives well and pulls very strongly and has a lot of life…I think its was used more as a long haul cruiser looking at all the history I’ve managed to collect. On the downside, I still need to replace the injectors, retrim the passenger side bolster, replace the front speakers and fill those speaker holes in the rear parcel shelf. Its has the usual dents scratches, but no rust and the small red stripe bumpers need replacing. On the plus side its had a new cambelt around 60k ago and a new clutch, I’ve fixed all the electrical gremlins and everything now works or has been replaced with OEM items. I’ve replaced any missing pieces of trim or hard to find clips with new items. Its also had four new Pirelli tyres fitted….but the original alloys do need refurbishing. The car has had a new ignition switch, solenoid, ignition leads, starter motor, battery, engine mount, distributor and hall sender…plus the majority of the hoses and the heater matrix replaced. This month the front rotors and pads have been replaced with VAG items and the gearshift bushes and gear stick consumable parts have been swapped out. The small redline bumpers are in need of an overhaul, so I’m going to replace these with big bumpers and 90’s skirts/wheel arches and get the bonnet and wings resprayed to remove the gravel rash. Over the last few months I’ve collected a few parts ready for the final makeover worth $1300 but haven’t fitted them just yet, but new stripes are on order from VW. United Kingdom Volksbits (NZ$) Crystal Headlamp with crosshairs 180.00 Crystal Indicators – Big Bumper 60.00 Silvertech Bulbs x2 30.00 Chinese Door Handles – Mark III look 60.00 Wolfsburg Edition Door pins 20.00 Wolfsburg Edition Window Winders 60.00 Wolfsburg Edition Gearknob 45.00 Chrome handbrake handle 75.00 Leather gaiter and chrome trim 90.00 SWG Motorsport Lower Grille spoiler 75.00 Awesome Chrome 16V Badge 60.00 Ashtray gauge holders 60.00 Venom T4 transporter vents 75.00 Short Bee Sting Aerial 30.00 Polished door openers 60.00 United States TM Tuning Single headlamp grille 70.00 Metal insert to grille (Spare) 24.00 Rear White/Red Crystal lights 90.00 Silvertech bulbs 40.00 Grille Spoiler - Eyebrow 70.00 At the moment the side stripes and side rubbing strips have been removed for the OEM+ look, however it means I'm having to fill the blemishes and nicks in the paint. Not sure if I can get away without a respray just yet.... what do you think? I'm pondering whether I've got the patience to finish it all off...

    1987 BMW M3 E30

    I don't think this is 77k nice...
  16. I can wait as long as needed, provided Andy doesnt mind it cluttering his garage
  17. Aagh If I could just sell this darn Mk2 Golf GTI 16V....
  18. Guys I'm looking for a favour, Andy has a centre console for an e30 that I need, but he doesnt trust the couriers to deliver it in one piece. He's in Auckland and I'm in Welly so I'm wondering if anyone is making the trip down at anytime and wouldnt mind being a BMW parts courier? Cheers Paul

    X5's

Martyyn Apart from my e30 that was a project (the daughter now uses it!!) I also have a 2003 new shape Subaru Legacy that the wife drives... but I was also wondering to change up to a 540 or 7 series...so would be interested in your opinion on comfort versus speed etc. The Subaru is comfortable, but build quality aint too flash.
  20. Andy I'm still looking for a really good rear shelf and a manual centre console for a 2 door car. Cheers Paul
  21. Will the manual be identical but without the cut outs for the electric windows? Is it possible to look underneath the console to see if any markings exist or if they are already perforated for the switches? Thanks Paul
  22. Andy I've also been looking for the front portion of a centre console and have asked Gus to take a look for one that will fit a manual, 2 door car (elec windows) etc... do you have anything? The rest of the parts you supplied were fitted last night...many thanks Paul

Gus I'm looking for a 2 door centre console off an e30 manual 318is...but it needs to be in perfect condition, if you have one. Are you selling the plastic BMW embossed spark plug cover from the M42? Thanks Paul
  24. Thanks... my luck I suppose as I have one of the larger PS2's
