My mate got fined like that nearly 10 years ago. Its not a new law. Mind you the weekend before a local cop had said in round-a-bout ways that his boss didn't like my mates noisy VR4 and encouraged his staff to pull him up.

This is a far cooler cruiser. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=126723516

IMO from what I've researched and from what my mate at the bmw dealership has told me the 3.0 is one hell of alot more reliable than the 3.2, and when you can get mid to high 5 second 0-60s out of the 3.0s theres bugger all performance difference for alot less cost.

Theres a silver one on TM. Used to be on Armstrong Prestige's yard for $19,900 some months back on clearance. His start price is $22k.....
-
You will be lucky to get a decent e36 m3 for $18k. Possibly look for a 328i coupe? Usually a few manual ones on TM, but since they are usually nz new, the kms are usually over 100,000

I drove that last weekend. Its very underspecced for $23k. I've driven a couple, that one drove very nicely and had good performance. There was no leather, no cd changer, no first aid kit, the crappy motorsport wheels, no sunroof and I couldn't find any service history book in the car either.... $20k would be a fairer price.

Had no problems when I wrote off my 1st car in 2000 with AMI. Full insurance on my '86 Corolla hatch, insured for $4k. This is when the new licences came in, I hadn't bothered to update mine (why the hell should I? My paper licence said it expired when I turned 70!). So the cops forbid me to drive until I got a new one, told the insurance company, the woman at the desk told me not to worry, I had a cheque for $3500 ($500 excess) in 4 days.

I don't have a BMW yet, but my gf does Age: 27 Location: Christchurch Car Year/Model: '95 328i coupe Insured value: $15,000 Driving Record: Clean Insurance company: State Insurance type (3rd party or full): Full Additional features of insurance (road side rescue, windscreen): Windscreeen Yearly premium (inc GST): $420 Excess: $250

$1600-$2000 for a set of 17" tyres? A set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's would be $1000-$1200. Tireracks favourite for a few years running. They were enough to tame my 200rwkw mr2 turbo in the rain. I recall paying around $230+gst for a 235/40R17.

I got a quote through AMI for a '96 3litre with agreed value of $28,000. It was only gonna cost $50 more a year than my $7000 12 second mr2 turbo. $420/year, $250 excess. Garaged, alarmed, Christchurch, 27yo Male with full ncb, no accidents for 7 years.

GF wanted a e36 coupe, ideally she wanted a manual but for what she wanted to spend (around $15k) she couldn't find a manual with under 70kms for anything less than around $20k. We drove everything from the 318is to the 328i. She picked the '95 328i with 66kms, with the M spec kit/suspension, 16" alloys, in red. By far the quickest and most torquey of the lot. The '97 323i we drove was nice as well, just lacked the kick of the 328i.
-
Is it that easy? My GF was getting cranky with the reverse ding as well LOL
-
My GF's e36 328i coupe does the same, although its showing the yellow and red inspection light for a couple of seconds after startup even though it had oil and filter two weeks ago.
-
$22k at most. KM's are getting up there for a '99. Otherwise looks sharp, do it.

The weather is always good when Toni is presenting. My female flatmates and my gf don't rate her however.
-
Spend the extra money and get one with less kms. Or buy a mint 328i manual of a newer vintage for the same money.

Thats absolutely terrible. My hack car is a nz new Opel Vectra GT. The 'sporty' 130hp one. 60 litre tank about $85 to fill from empty, gets me over 800kms to a tank. Would wipe the floor with a 318 as well
-
No. The '80s one with the 6.75 litre turbo Rolls Royce Engine. Got torque?
