  1. Wasnt suggesting you were Simon, you M-pp-t.
  2. I would have thought that $800 plus gst is a real good rate for a full first time tune, especially if he allows a day, would have to be the cheapest HP you'd ever get.
  3. Sounds like the alternator's gone?
  4. Get the car up and on stands and crawl underneath, look at the back of the gearbox where the dshaft bolts up, there's a large rubber ring bolted between the dshaft and the box. Take a torch and look for breaks in the rubber, and possibly bits of broken cord. Take the dshaft in your hands and turn and see if there's any movement around the donut, there shouldn't be. The centre bearing should hold the shaft firmly with a little movement, again look for tears in the rubber around the bearing, and excessive movement.
  5. Check the rubber donut on the back of the gearbox, and the drive shaft bearing. Both can cause this problem.

    Oil breather..

Would guess worn valve stems and guide seals?
  7. You might need to live forever.
  8. Never had a problem, always logs in automatically. Firefox
  9. If those don't do anything, replace the fuel pump relay, can cause that problem. ps, I've also had that problem with a dry connection at the fuel tank pump, under the back seat.
  10. The E34 ECU is what I'm using as the engine is from an E34. The 145 was the first reading from the ECU before Gavin started his work, I'd guess from Cam's comment that equates to around 195 to 200 at the flywheel, probably where a 180,000 mile, not k's, would be around? The 170 which it ended at would be around 225 flywheel, a gain of around 15hp on factory new, the engine is the low compression 211 hp version.
  11. Don't be shy Graham. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=204252981 A very nice car.
  12. Sweet az. text first, I'll be at the track Friday if fine, home sat and sun tho.
  13. His prices are time based now I think, you'd have to ring him to find out. He's very reasonable. I guess cost is based on a number of things, including age of car and technology involved. I'd assume the M30 is a pretty basic unit with fairly standard changes to get the best results, hence the very reasonable cost.
  14. That will be happening with the rebuild for sure, Gavin's looking for something at the moment. Really is good to have the tuner building a similar car at the same time. He's got the M30 3.5 out of his E30 at the moment to do a race car rebuild, cage and all.
  15. Yeah, rear wheel, and I'll be very embarrassed if I can't give it to you on a plate.
  16. This is from an untouched 180k standard E34, I was very happy to get to 169 hp.Hoping for 200 plus with head flowing, cam and extractors, for next season.
  17. About 3 hours, and less than $500. Best value Horse power you can get. I believe Gavin can do any BMW, and most other cars as well.
  18. Well, got around to getting my car to Gavin Bellars at Hi Velocity today, got a full remap of my ECU. Started with 145 hp on the stock E34 535 ECU, Gavin got it up to 170 hp, purely by remapping, no other changes at this stage. E28_dyno.pdf This would have to be the cheapest Hp you could ever buy, I'll certainly be going back after my engine rebuild. You can get hold of Gavin at Hi Velocity 16D Parity Place, Glenfield, Auckland 09 442 4451 Easy to talk to, and knows what he's doing, it's good to see someone who does things properly for a change.
  19. If you want to talk about silly things like that, go on MSN, or somewhere else anyway please.
  20. Surprised it's mounted so far forward?
  21. There's a very nice NZ new, fully kitted, Msport auto version of this, with 114 k's, for $9,000 on tm at the moment, so would think this should be closer to $12 than $15. A lot closer.
  22. He'd need a full tablet for that to happen.
  23. If you like BMWs and racing then you should come to the track at Pukekohe in March, the 21st and 22nd, we're racing there. Will be 80 odd BMWs on the track.
