If its just the glass and not the whole mirror, one of the retainer clips may not be clicked in properly or the clip on the back of the mirror glass is broken. The electric drive head could also be faulty. You can check this after taking the mirror glass off.... if in doubt or your not confident in doing it yourself.....Jeff Grey

Is the noise still there if you run the engine with the drive belts off ??? Have you used a stethescope on it to isolate where the noise is coming from ??

The Vanos unit works off engine oil pressure and is activated by solenoids. The diagram in the opening thread shows the unit concerned. Where are these wires and valves you are talking about ?? And could you also explain where this filter is ?? There are no OEM replacement internal parts for any of the BMW Vanos units

Just dont be too aggressive with the blaster though....you'll damage the cover. And plug up all threaded and unthreaded holes. Best to put bolts in the threaded holes and bolts, nuts with washes on all the unthreaded holes to protect those areas

Needs to be scanned. Either exhaust or inlet camshaft position sensor or the airmass sensor. Guessing wont fix it. Get it scanned. These faults sometimes wont throw up an engine check light. Can check it for you today if you like

You could try Ebay as well

Never pressure bleed a brake or clutch system that has a plastic resevoir, you run the risk of blowing the resevoir off if you get the pressure wrong and have brake fluid everywhere. Always vacuum bleed. Or do it with two people pumping the pedal and bleeding the appropriate cylinder. You cant use a solid pipe in place of the hose. It will transmit engine noise and vibration. I think you will find that the clutch hose was replaced with a braided steel hose, not solid. The dual mass flywheel is sprung and when faulty causes clutch judder. I'm sure thats not the problem he is experiencing though
