  1. Shite Ollie, not giving up your beloved
  2. HB & good luck with the recovery. Thanks for your great service with tyres recently too
  3. Without trying to give you cold feet - as Jochen said - change the units THEN sort the coding headaches. I know of a couple of instances where this conversion has been tried & ended in tears. Changing hardware - easy, getting it to talk to the car - not so. Not saying not doable - but tread with caution.
  4. Alarms have been discussed many times on here. Mongoose/ Dynatron are both high profile & good alarms. There are plenty of others out there too. If you have had good run with Mongoose - stick with them. ANY alarm though - only as good as the install
  5. OT - Andy - where the hell do you find these profile images
  6. You are complicating the diagonsis somewhat. If no alt light on dash with ign on - earth the exciter wire at the alt (as you have done) if it illuminates when earthed - fault is in alternator - (assumming alt has other supplies to it present). This wire leads through the alt field circuit to earth - bringing the light on. When alt is charging - voltage from field circuit opposes ign supply to bulb - extinguishing the light, No output from alt - no voltage - light stays on. Equally - as you have - open circuit in field circuit - no light at all
  7. I do it with an FBH (....en big hammer) & a drift. Give the pin housing a decent whack or two crack the joint loose. Can do with just the hammer BUT be accurate & leave the nut on loosely to protect incase you miss
  8. Have you tried the dealers? They used to
  9. With respect - if you have no idea then probably best to get someone who has to either do the job for you or help
  10. Nathan, surely should have been simple enough for a garage to diagnose the problem. Fuel pump either has power to it or it doesn't. It should prime for a couple of seconds with ign on then start again while cranking. If voltage is leaving the fuel pump relay (green/purple wire from memory) & not getting to pump - obviously a fault in wiring/plugs between. Ign switch also a simple check - is correct voltage coming out on ign wire (also while cranking)? Will be 10ish volts while cranking
  11. swap for M6 - need you ask ^^^^^^ Me too!!
  12. Nick. If they tested the battery & confirmed a dead cell - then yes - the battery was faulty & needed replacement. A problem now could be one of a few things - if infact battery is flat - maybe alternator or current draw at rest. If not flat - possibly faulty new battery (possible) or crook starter or circuit. Depending on symptom Probably best bet is to get AA out again to confirm problem & get the car to an auto sparky to fix. No, I would doubt the agents would have a replacement alternator. If you find you need one - I can supply a rebuilt one to suit.
  13. Yep, caught it on the sports news. Never seen two come off at once. Rings true with the saying "wheels fell off" Literally Plural
  14. Ditto!! The best sounding by far! Still miss the car I had -even though non turbo
  15. ^^^^^^ Bugger!! or something similar comes to mind

    my new wheels

Love the Black/Gold Kerry. As above - some JPS logos now... oh & M3 look alike box guards
  17. HB man. Hope you've had a good one
  18. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=RobaJKGMMiE
  19. Belated one from me too
  20. E65/66 could be one of a couple of systems depending on year. Early E65 cars are different to E60
  21. In the absense of Jochen on here at present = NO, your radio is to old for world programming. Programmable radios came out around the 09/2001 date, previous to that - market specific. You need to replace the radio. You can get a CD version (from memory) to suit for replacement. Speakers: From my perspective - whatever you can fit or prepared to make fit as long as they are a match to the amplification being used - factory or aftermarket
  22. Shark for me - absolutely no doubt!! That said - thats's one very nice E34 sooooo maybe both choices 1 & 2 & then have 3 -if you can that is:-
  23. Same wheels as mine but your car appears to maybe sit a tad lower - mines standard
  24. Nice car! From another E39 lover
  25. BUGGER, know what you mean, Ive got the front shimmy to deal with but in this case I think it's the Ching Chong discs I fitted a while ago as it's under braking. Also got two RHS wheels slightly buckled - the joys of 18"s & no rubber for a buffer I guess
