Wow, same thing with me. Jumped in my Grandmothers brand new Corolla and only touched the brake and the car pretty much did a complete stop right on the spot. Maybe just a thing with new Jap cars? Although I wouldn't have thought so.

Welcome dude. The easiest N/A swap to gain more power would be to put an 2.5L M20 in. If you are asking how to go about it and what you have to do, you may struggle with putting an M50 or SR in. That said, almost anything is possible as you can probably see!

I love how BMW still remembers its history and endeavors to be unique and make an "ultimate driving machine", not some generic, dull and uninspiring small hatch or whatever.

I would say as long as what you buy is close to same spec as original and it can be used in high temp applications (like what has been said) you will be fine. Only reason its there is to absorb the sound of the engine (remember e30's are luxury vehicles).

IMO that is hot! Give it a real good clean up and you have one fast, fun, unique and eye catching (prob in a bad way) car. [edit] and Style 5's or E39 M5 rims
