Nice welds, nice tips, looks mean.

Every time I fill my E30 with petrol I always have trouble getting the fuel pump to pump as the nozzle sensor doesn't let me. I have to wriggle it around for a while, with people looking at me wondering what the hell I'm doing, until it finds a spot and starts to pump. Does anyone else find this or am I just a retard? I don't know if this is unique to Tourings but was mucking around today and found these two holes on each side of the car behind front wheel. So I opened up the rubber inside wheel arch to find an ice cream container full of moist dirt on each side. Now, let alone severly affecting the handling and acceleration (sarcasm) of my car, couldn't this be a catalyst for rust?

How do you actually do it properly? I heard that you get adhesive remover and nylon fishing line (or teeth floss) and it will come off very easy.
