  1. Update: Radiator is from a E34 535i. Made up new bottom mounts and some brackets for the e30 M20 expansion tank. The M30 uses larger hoses to the M10 so I also had to make up some reducers to go between the two sizes. Also replaced all the hoses, just went to repco and grabbed whatever worked and chopped them up if I had to. Expansion tank is plumbed into the heater return line (cheers glenn). Didn't manage to take it for a run tonight but will check it all out tomorrow so hopefully theres no leaks or issues with bleeding it. I also ran out of time and steel to do the top mounts, will suss those shortly. An electric fan is also going to go in, will probably just wire it in to MS to switch it. I should have done the radiator upgrade ages ago but I had a reasonable run out of that old stock one, was only really when I switched to a water cooled turbo that I needed the extra cooling. New exhaust gasket also in, will see how long this one lasts, otherwise I'll go to a solid flange in an attempt to stop blowing them.
  2. the ball joints can be replaced seperately but its not normally worth it once you go through the trouble of pulling it off and then having to get the joints pressed out and in again.
  3. have a look at your spark plugs, if they're sooty means its running rich. maybe give the air flow sensor a clean? or maybe theres an issue with fuel pressure reg if the mixture off?
  4. generally 3 sizes i'd run, 195/60, 195/65, or 205/60, the 195's are factory tho the 205's fit ok but look a littlr balloonish
  5. wouldn't go for a soft-top but I reckon the Mcoupes are frickin cool. Something about the oddball proportions with the big guards

    Google Chrome

I noticed that but the FF one had the advantage of easily being able to choose the search engine, eg I had it set up so I could easily choose between wikipedia, youtube, trademe, etc. I've added those in chrome but only seems to use the default engine.

its definately faster, but as others have said the scroll up is annoying. Also, does anyone know how to get that little search bar up that Firefox has in the top right corner, (can choose from bunch of different search engines)
  8. any idea on how bad the wear is for normal road driving?
  9. nice. those wheels look way better on the car than I thought they would when i saw them on TM.
  10. Best bet would be to go round a few shops with a proper CD (no shitty mp3 rips) and have a listen to some. speakers can be pretty subjective so go with what sounds good to you. If possible get them to turn off any extra eq's or 'loud' features etc

dear god. that thing will be deadly. what sort of boost you looking to run? You have your own EMS right?
  12. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=118801 i was pretty close to getting a set
  13. none of the sportmax do it for me, I'd go slips out of that lot. whats the offset on the sportmax btw? I take it the rotas are ET20? What about importing some of the 16x7.5" immitation BBS RS from the states, or theres a group buy for 16x9's going on now.
  14. I don't know how far you want to go with it but to source all the parts is stupid expensive. Best bet might be to find one of the jap import ones (i think theres a cheap rusty one on TM) and tax the bits off that. Or better still repair/rebuild a legit M3 that will keep its value. Its easier to say what they have in common with the other e30's, so many m3 specific parts. body panels, suspension, brakes, engine, interior is all different. Or, just get a nice Mtec car and work on that.
  15. got others scouring that. undy didn't run this year, thats where the supply normally comes from. More cars we can get the better so just trying other sources.
  16. I'm not so sure on that theory. That bar is designed to link the two towers together so the load is shared. It tends to be in tension so a hinge is not going to create such an issue, as it will still pull the other tower with it.
  17. was that for the US M3 or Euro M3? Big difference between the 2 manifolds. Euro ones are very nice items and any porting work may not yield as big an improvement as the US items.
  18. ^exactly, you wont find many (if any) car audio experts recommending 6x9's. I don't even use my rears normally, just good to have if theres people in the back. I've actually been meaning to pull the 6.5's out and slot some 5 1/4's in behind the factory grills. if the gears good quality some components up front and a single 10" or 12" sub goes pretty damn well in a little e30. some smaller speakers for rearfill is optional if you often have people in the car. Anything else is overkill (I'm no expert, just from spending too much time and money on the stereo)
  19. ^ They'll fit plenty better than 6x9 but you'll still need speakers with quite a shallow mounting depth to avoid some sort of spacer
  20. I had to use approx 20mm spacers to fit 6.5" speakers, that will depend in mounting depth of the speaker though

    15" BBS RS

This has been talked about before but the problem is there are far too many variations, eg camber, ride height, preFL or FL, strut size, rim diameter, etc. even tyres with the same nominal size can have different tread widths. A guide could be done explaining the effect of each of these but for what will and wont work its a bit tricky. A general list could be done of common fitments for a few of the chassis without too much trouble I guess. I could do e30's without too much trouble but would need help with e36/e46 and some of the 5 and 7 series
  22. sorry, forgot about actual rail pressure, I was talking about pressure difference between rail and manifold, which should be 43.5, I guess if the engine is pulling a reasonable vacuum at idle then you would see ~32psi in the rail
  23. he's talking +ve manifold pressure. I'm still running the stock one on my car and haven't had any issues if that helps also, most of the e30 FPR's i've seen run 43.5psi?
