can't work on stock widths and offsets because the stock wheels are so narrow. Also, the range of offsets you can use changes depending on the rim diameter. those calculators are handy if you know of similar wheels that work. thanks for that, I forgot about the calipers, too easy just to go off the strut distance.

depends on the width, if they are 6.5" they'll fit, while 7" will be very close, and may need spacers (5mm tops). Having got that sorted they will sit too far in, so do what sam said and get some wide outers for them, perfect e30 wheels

cant argue with admin. even arches FTW

Wanted (chch): Crap/sh*t car- running but no wof or reg needed
Mike replied to Mike's topic in Want to buy
I was thinking an e32 would be pretty badass. doesn't have to be a BMW obviously, though anything euro would be cool. -
Hi guys, anybody got any old cars lying around or know of any? wanted for a demo darby, so dont need a wof or reg, but running and 4 wheels would be good. Even if they need a few little bits and pieces I'd be pretty interested. PM if you can help me out. Cheers Mike

pic doesn't work for me, but you can squeeze a 3" pipe between the motor and the steering column

when my ignition system shat itself (rotor and dizzy cap) I got a fair bit of warning, ie it would started to get really bad at starting until it would only start with a push. Ultimately it wouldn't even start with a push. Rotor and cap were in a similar state to what yours are. Not saying it will always do that but just something to think about. I wouldn't f**k round with second hand ignition bits (unless you or a mate have them on hand), they are a part that will wear. give one of the forum sponsors a call - gavin at euro-italian will sort you out

no chance if its an auto, or unless you take glenns advice interior falls to bits at higher kms, earlier ones are supposedly worse but its still happening to my olds '95

I take it you mean the ITB's? This can be yours for $4459 NZ + Shipping

I was referring to CamB's post

I also thought the bilsteins were only the sports shocks on the early ones, with Boge shocks (different valving to stock) on the later ones? Also I think the sports suspension has larger sway bars. I've seen a few 325i with 4 wheel discs, ABS, and (old) bilsteins so that doesn't make an M-tec car. Best way to tell is probably headlining, least likely to have been changed.

jump on realoem and compare part #'s between the tourings and other models. this page should help: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do grab the part #'s from the normal parts listings

180WHP is alright, I was expecting maybe a wee more bit given its a 2.5L now but about right for a 2.3L on 7psi. I was more looking for lambda across the rev range, if its around .86 throughout thats pretty good. [Megasquirt plug] you considered Megasquirt as an ECU? easy enough to make it run on an L-jet car and then add in ignition control later once fuel is sorted. Its not for everyone but for the budget DIY guy with half a brain its definately worth looking at. [/plug]

Nah, to small, use this thing: 2.4L RST V8. 400HP NA or 500HP with a blower
-
Its a bit of both. Theoretically top speed shouldn't have bugger all to do with weight. But if your cars heavy its going to take a lot longer to reach those speeds and you'll run out of road pretty quickly.
-
well said. NZ market is pretty small, could even be worthwhile offering them overseas? good luck with sale, they are very cool wheels
-
nice, those budget setups can be alot of fun- just dont get too greedy with the boost. (dont ask how I know) I'm impressed with the intake pipes, very clean. Did you get any lambda readings with the dyno run? I'm curious to see how thats looking. Any HP/TQ firgures?

The US S50 uses the same manifolds as any other M50, so I wouldn't go out of your way to get them, seeing as they are easily available over here. Can't comment on how they'll affect performance.

+1 google is your friend, and theres a few threads on here about it. check sunroof drains, and the drain in the front bulkhead. mine turned out to be rusted drains from the inner roof, though i haven't heard of anyone else having that so doubt thats your issue. pull your carpet out and sit in the car with someone covering your car in water with a hose.

it also has an open diff listed too? link Theres a reasonable chance it got one from factory being an iS, and if you're lucky it hasn't been swapped out by a previous owner. Just dont be too suprised if there isn't one there. Sweet deal if there is though, will probably be 4.10 small case Gotta be careful with info from US sites, they have quite different specs sometimes. They're pretty bad in that if it was the case for them then the rest of the world must be the same. ie- I've been told I'm full of sh*t for having a 1987 M10 318 (last year for M10 was 85 in the US) http://www.esatclear.ie/~bpurcell/318ischassis.html Doesn't really matter anyway, if its got one its one one, jed can tell us when he's done skid. Still a sweet little car.

245/35 is fine on that size rim, probably better than the 215's. IMO if you've got the width why not use it
-
is there an echo in here? thanks for confirming on those spacers tho
-
I wouldn't be expecting an LSD, they were only an option on those cars
-
yea I reckon 300kph is too much, i'd be expecting around 270-280. have a look at some old motoring magazines maybe, might be a press release about unlimited top speed

I'm sure you've got that wrong on the 16x8 et21, that means you've only got 2mm less on the inside than my schnitzer and I definatley have more clearance than that, not to mention the rota slips for e30 are 16x8 ET20. Most of the euro 16x9 wheel come with ET15, I cant remember whether its a 3 or 5mm spacer to clear 51mm struts. none needed in the rear. your going to have to do some guard work either way when your running rims that wide. id run a 215/40 if I was you, people have made 205/45 work though
