  2. Me? Can't be ... I've been in the office all day today (apart from about 3:30pm when I went out for about half an hour).
  3. Didn't look or sound like a replica when I saw it last week ...
  4. Great for those trackdays for changing wheels!!!! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...599753&ed=true Purchased BRAND NEW and used for a few times. IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER - Just want it sold hence the $1 reserve. Great tool and only used a handful of times - I no longer own a car that I regularly work on - so this tool is for sale. Bare tool only - no battery or charger. Grab a bargain!! Specs from a similar auction: DeWalt DW059 18 volt 1/2" square drive impact wrench - this is the strong one... 300ft-lbs maximum torque. Latest model - with the new shaped foot that suits both lithium and XRP batteries. Specs: 1/2" square drive. No load speed: 1650rpm. Impacts per minute: 2600. Maximum torque: 300ft-lbs/3600 inch-lbs.
  5. Fair enough ... searching through m3forums this appears to be the preferred option over carsoft ... especially if you have a SMG car. If you've got the time Glenn have a read through the complete BMW sensor list - shows pretty much the capability of this tool. The reason it's attracted me to it is obviously price point and also the fact that it works with late model BMWs like the E9X series and even the new Mini. Here's the DIY of a guy replacing his own SMG pump and used this tool to bleed the SMG pump http://www.nugadgets.com/customcontent/SmgDiyMain.html The interface appears to be reasonably user friendly by the looks. An article was written about it by Don from m3forums (moderator) in the US Roundel about the AE tool compared to the very expensive Autologic tool from the UK - it appears to be almost on par with it and has live reading of sensors and data logging.
  6. Have driven both ... I'd take the 760 anyday ... the new 7 series are the bomb!!
  7. http://www.autoenginuity.com/ This seems to be universally liked and preferred by BMW owners in the USA as a PC based diagnostic tool with enhancement capabilities (like clearing codes, cycling ABS pumps, resetting SMG clutch curves, ect ect) - appears to be rather powerful (have even read guys replacing SMG pumps on their own and reinitialising the whole system with just this with really good results) Has anybody had any experience with it? Recommend it? Loath it? Stay away? Here's the complete list of BMW sensors that it'll cover: http://www.autoenginuity.com/BMW-All-Systems-List.html Any helpful comments appreciate it before I commit to buying one. Thanks.
  8. It's more gangsta that way .... in keeping with the image of the car I guess ??
  9. Actually footage of it going for a swim (rather than the aftermath) ... pretty amazing somebody captured this ... http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-09/11-14...g-into-lake.htm
  10. and my favourite feature ... matching baby recaro seat!!
  11. Function over form I think - wouldn't be surprising that this thing runs real hot - it'd be part of radiator cooling. just under a quarter of a million dollars for one of these (so I don't think they'd sell many to be honest) - very pricey. White's the new black I guess?? haha ... yes that's correct, rather clever the way BMW have plumbed the turbo (yet they hide it under a big sheet of plastic (you can't even see any of it from the side - I tried to take a photo to show it but all you see is a whole lot of nothing, so I didn't post that photo up. I did try to take a video of the exhaust sound, but after watching the video on my computer I thought it really didn't do it justice ... so I've left the video off. Suffice to say however it doesn't sound anything like a V8 ...
  12. Typing this on my phone, so going to make it short and sweet. The wheels are too small for the car and it does sit rather high for a M car. Vision out the back window is restricted that's why you have the camera bird's eye view ... There's also a plain reversing cam option. Yes i agree the X6 is a bit of a pointless car ... Size of a toyota prado that seats 4 with the boot space of a mini cooper haha .... But i guess it'll appeal to those that have everything ... Price is a bit steep though at close to a quarter of a million ....
  13. Well one of the perks of having a family member in the BMW family is you get to see the latest almost before everyone else ... So she brought this home today and I just had to take a couple of photos and provide a bit of reivew and impression (let it be known that I've actually been looking forward to seeing this car in the metal and have been itching to drive it and experience it) - it is 1 of 2 currently in NZ. The beast from the front: Side shot: Big wheels and 4 pot monoblock brakes (pizza sized disc!!) Lots of cooling ducts and vents for this car: The rear shot: Rear diffuser of sort: Rather flat sort of an undercarriage: Noise control: Surprisingly not a ridiculous amount of M decals on this car, very subtle: Interior - almost the same as the standard car - which is rather disappointing (would have preferred an "M" specific interior instead. You do get a TV screen for the rear though: A very cool reverse camera feature - Bird's eye view (you'd have to be an idiot to curb the wheels on this thing I say) Paddles!!!! The heart of the beast!! (actually pretty much all covered by plastic .. bit disappointing really - I'd have like to see the twin turbos sitting atop of the V8 to be honest!! - perhaps even a window in the bonnet showing off the turbos haha - ala Corvette ZR1) So driving impression: It is a rather heavy car and you do feel the weight. But for the size it does actually handle quite well and is fairly nimble for what it is (turning circle's not too bad either). There's ZERO turbo lag - and I mean ZERO - If I didn't know better I'd have thought this thing was NA. It has almost an uncanny feel turning a fast corner - it just sits flat with no roll (as one would expect of a M car) - however in this instance it's actually the work of the active roll control system. Is it a M3, M5 or M6 replacement ...... unfortunately no it's not. There's a distinct lack of exhaust note on this thing for some reason and even less of engine noise - in fact there's virtually nothing coming from that twin turbo V8 ... it's almost as if it's dumbed down purposely just to be civilised. It handles very well for a SAV, but it's not a M3 or M5 or M6 beater in the handling department - not even close in my opinion. Despite this ... I'd have this (or rather the X5M) over a Cayenne. If you are serious about buying one - go see the team at Newmarket (it's there for a couple of days apparently) - remember to ask for Sandra!!!
  14. Not only that ... Its power to weight is better than CSL, E92 M3, M5, M6, 996 GT3, 996 GT3RS, 997 GT3, and even the 997 GT3RS (none of which are over 300 bhp/tonne)
  15. Available only in Orange Me likey Time to trade the CSL me thinks Anyone keen for a mint condition CSL? http://www.bmw.tv/com/article/BMW+M3+GTS.+...amp;channelID=2 https://www.m-power.com/_open/b/home.jsp?lang=en http://www.skiddmark.com/?p=4986 As we suggested in a recent post BMW will be releasing a limited edition version of the M3 " effectively a road going version of the M3 GT4 which now looks likely to be called the M3 GTS. Take a look at the video above which was released this afternoon on BMW’s YouTube channel. Based on the same 4 litre V8 as fitted to the regular M3, but with its capacity increased to 4.4 litres and power output exceeding 450 bhp, the GTS will have stunning performance. The GTS is supplied like the previous E46 M3 CSL with a stripped out cabin, minus radio, A/C and other fripperies but no doubt these can be specified as options if the customer chooses. The M3 GTS will also come with a roll-cage and fire extinguisher, so its ethos is very much in the same vein as Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS. The prototype is said to have already lapped the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes 40 seconds, and is some 100kg or so lighter than the E92 M3 on which it is based. No news yet as to whether it is fitted with KERS, or what kind of production volumes we can expect. UPDATE: The GTS will come fitted with 225/35 Pirelli Corsa tyres at the front and 285/30 at the rear fitted to 19″ wheels and for the first time on an M-car the M3 GTS comes fitted with fixed calipers " ably assisted by six pistons at the front and four at the rear. The chassis is fitted with a bespoke set of springs and dampers, adjustable in compression and rebound and developed with track days and club racing in mind. The M3 GTS is also fitted with an adjustable front splitter and rear wing, generating positive downforce and allowing precise adjustment to suit the conditions and track layout. BMW’s motorsport engineers looked closely at the weight saving measures from the E46 M3 CSL, but since many of these features were already included in the standard E92 M3 (such as the carbon reinforced plastic roof), they had to go one step further. Lightweight bucket seats were a must, but this time they removed the rear seats completely. Several new lightweight solutions have been used " the use of Macrolon for the car’s windows in the back, new insulation materials, the lack of air conditioning, navigation and radio and then to top it off the M3 GTS is fitted with a titanium rear exhaust. No mention has made of a carbon fibre air intake, which will come as a surprise given the character it brought to the M3 CSL, but perhaps the titanium exhaust brought the M3 GTS already perilously close to acceptable noise limits. All these measures when combined result in a weight of around 1490 kilograms " which although nearly 100kg lighter than the regular E92 M3 is still nearly 110kg heavier than its spiritual predecessor, the E46 M3 CSL. But the M3 CSL lacked those final track-oriented touches and in this regard the M3 GTS is a far more complete proposition. The interior has been prepared for installation of the 6-point seatbelt included for use on the track. There are also mounts for the roll-over protective structure bolted on from the B column. A fire extinguisher and battery master switch/emergency shut-off preparation are also included and whilst they don’t make the car any lighter, they do make it much safer than its predecessor when driven to its full potential. The car is fitted with a 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with adapted shift characteristics. But the engine is surely the highlight of this M3 GTS. Using a en engine exclusive for the GTS, the engine builders of BMW M have developed a power unit based on the M high-performance engine of the current BMW M3: with a capacity of 4.4 litres and an output of some 450 bhp. BMW have stated that their aim is to clearly beat the lap time of the legendary M3 CSL on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which was recorded back in 2003 at 7 minutes 50 seconds, so rumours of the 7 min 40 sec lap achieved by a recent development driver is bound to put a smile on the engineers faces. The BMW M3 GTS will be made-to-order and the price as shown in the pictures below is expected to be EUR 115,000.- for delivery in Germany, including 19% VAT. (approx. £100,000). First cars are are due to be supplied from May 2010 and will initially be supplied only for the German market, further countries will receive cars from summer 2010.

  18. BRAND NEW NEVER USED!! By far THE BEST replica I've had. Mounted just for photos. In full carbon fiber. Perfect 1 x 1 weave just like the real thing. I would say the fitment is as good as 100% honestly the fitment is OEM like (look at the photos for yourself). There is one tab that was broken from shipping BUT THIS DOES NOT affect the fitment, tightness or flushness to the bumper itself - I GUARANTEE IT. This tab does absolutely nothing for fitment at all. The diffuser fits tight and flush all around. $800 no offers please http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.as...614&ed=true
  19. Spotted a tidy white E30 2 door coupe - might be a Mtech II by the looks of it - coming out of Ridge Road onto Pakuranga Highway around 7:40ish tonight.
  20. Good to know Nik ... thanks for the feedback - good to know that somebody's dealt with them before. Might email them for some pricing for a couple of parts now just to compare. Speedfactor's very popular with the Honda crowd ... good guys!!
  21. Okay ... thought I'd post up here and see if anybody knows anybody that could or want to do this. I've bought in a used Vorsteiner M3 CSL front bumper recently. It's in pretty good nick and I just thought that it'd be the ideal thing for somebody to take a mould off and perhaps to sell to those that want it (Group buy perhaps??) - even modify the mould to allow a replica for the normal E46 3 series. Given that chances of moulding off a genuine CSL bumper is probably pretty slim (given how rare and expensive these are) - this is probably the next best thing. I've had a close look at this bumper and in all honesty, it's a pretty good replica of the real deal I'd say 99.9% accurate. Now I am not after any money for this - and I'd be more than happy for the person or company doing this to keep the mould for future production and resale or whatever (I do want something out of this though, but I'll talk directly to the person or company doing this directly about it - it's not an unreasonable request I think). So PM me if you know anyone that might be interested - preferrably Auckland, unless they can ship the bumper to their own facility if outside Auckland. And before you ask - no this bumper isn't for sale. Thanks. My contact details: 021 281 0155 or [email protected]
  22. I did a quick search before I posted this up - thought it might be helpful. But mods if you feel this should be elsewhere, can you please move it. I've been replacing a couple of bushings on my car recently, and as we all know anything BMW OEM costs an arm and a leg. The alternatively is usually to import privately from overseas or source aftermarket parts. I did just this and imported a couple of bits and pieces. Most came in BMW packaging, but a couple of items came in Lemforder packaging. So I did a bit of googling and searches on forums, and low and behold, unbeknown to me originally turns out that Lemforder is the OEM supplier for BMW for a lot of their suspension and steering components. Now I am not ignorant and am well aware that car manufacturing inovles a lot of outsourced parts from 3rd parties - I just didn't think that people pay too much attention to who these suppliers are and how much cheaper they are compared to BMW parts (which are basically just reboxed parts from 3rd parties). Now the point of this post. I ended up doing a bit more digging, then realised that there's actually a company here in NZ that brings in these OE supplier parts supposedly at a fraction of the cost. Their website is www.speed.co.nz (now mods I am NOT affiliated to this company, didn't even know they existed till about 12 hours ago). I've not priced up anything from them yet, but it seems like a good alternative source to get genuine OEM parts at a fraction of the price (no idea if it is cheaper than importing directly though). Have a look at Lemforder's website .. they have a great online catelogue. http://www.zf.com/brands/content/en/lemfoe..._lemfoerder.jsp Anyway, just thought it might be helpful for those looking for genuine OEM parts directly from the manufacturer.
