good sh*t. When does it get a blower?
-
You could so have an S50 in for under 8k.
-
M10, M30, S14 gearboxes are all similar (bolt pattern at least) M30 is a horrible way to get power in my opinion (because they have none). If you want more power - by far the easiest way is to buy a 325. It is not worth the $$ to put one in a 318 unless you have all the bits handy.

PC - Logitech G25 wheel/pedals. GTR2 or GT Legends - sorted. Best car gaming ever (what other games are there?)
-
Basically the e36 item doesn't fit (for so many reasons). And no - the m10 gearbox doesn't fit. The 6 cylinder boxes do (with modification) Getrag 240/260 - and so do the E30 4 cylinder boxes from M40 (Getrag 240). I have an m42 with 300hp that would bolt right in?

RE entscheidend - on State customer service. They gave me SUCH a hard time insuring a 318i 1984 for 3 k at the beginning of this year i've been so pissed at them. Why on EARTH do they then turn around and insure me on a higher risk car for half the price. God knows. Everytime i speak to them it sounds like an overseas call centre and none speak english well enough. AMI refused me on insurance as I "had to many cars in the past 6 months" - now thats retarded.

Thanks guys - at this stage Josh's is looking FTW. Will let you all know when its confirmed.

This is another survey type deal - I'm interested in the following things (just fill out same way as me). I am only interested in daily driven private use vehicles that are BMWs. (So I don't want any specialised policies such as race cars etc) ************************************************ [copy and paste this] Age: Location: Car Year/Model: Insured value: Driving Record: Insurance company: Insurance type (3rd party or full): Additional features of insurance (road side rescue, windscreen): Yearly premium (inc GST): Excess: Comments on customer service: ************************************************ I'll start Age: 22 Location: Auckland, North Shore Car Year/Model: 1996 323i Insured value: $10500 Driving Record: Clean with 3 speeding tickets in last 2 years around 115 kph. Full license 3 years. Insurance company: State Insurance type (3rd party or full): Full Additional features of insurance (road side rescue, windscreen): Road Side Rescue, Windscreen Yearly premium (inc GST): $886 Excess: $300 Comments on customer service: Pretty good this time, have had bad experiences in the past though.

My 320 would rock around 400 k to a tank of gas. My 318 (pre-FL) would rock 550ish driven lightly. Every now and then you spot complete manual swaps for $200ish on trademe for the pre-fl 318. Your 19 - insurance should be cheapish on a 325. Only bother with 3rd party obviously.

I just was thinking the other day I cannot remember what cars i've owned [and what I did to them] So - list of all cars. I've had (in order, in 5 years heh) E30 318i auto PreFl <- First car, did rangi mods and ended up killing it. Saw it driving on the North Shore 2 days ago - it lives! E30 320i man PreFl <- Pioneered rangi E30 mods as we started copying the Americans. Started Bimmersport 2002 E30 323i man PreFl <- Ended up being my race car - too many mods to list. Still own. E36 323i auto FL < - Looked cool anyway Toyota Hilux SSR-G < - Blew it up E30 318i manual PreFL < - Was Ruby - basically did suspension and sounds E30 325i manual FL < - Was LachMtech 2 - badass black wheels and misc shizzle 2006 Suzuki Swift Sport < - YEP E39 528i auto PreFL <- Was bling bling anyway, sold to Dad E30 318iS turbo manual FL <- a lot also. Still own E36 323i auto manual < - Current daily - will do minor stuff. Still own. I'm probably forgetting one or two.

About 10k and: Motor (twincam motor from e36) Suspension Interior stuff 318iS are all facelift, all coupe Different front lip, all 15" basketweaves. Head on 320 (the m20 motor) - its not THAT problematic. I think more when you get m20 heads hot they can crack is what people are referring to. Head on facelift 318 (the m40 motor) suffers from same thing (along with many other problems to do with its cambelt)

Gus: Pics of Jungl3 please. Sam: Likewise. By tonight I just meant I wanted some piccys to show the producer by then.
-
Oh - and tonight would be best. Cheers Age doesn't matter - any nicely modded BMW. Chromes are OK also.
-
As some of you may know I work for a film production company. I'm looking for a BMW - that is pimp. (If you are a good looking male that LOOKS under 25 then we want you also) Please post pic of y0 ride and if you want of you. Car would be used for singer to sing out of/some posing. I am based in Auckland - so would prefer Auckland cars/owners only. Cheers p.s to define pimp - my black e39 that looks like an M5 looks pimp enough, Josh's car is a good ref also.

For a stock 320i - facelift I wouldn't punt more than 2500 for a minter 318 similar value - if not more. 325 - 3 - 4k - more for manual - more for motorsport (up to 15) Best non M models are 318iS and M325i (and all its variants)
-
325/318 are very similar in terms of fuel usage. 89 320i avoid. (Sure they'll go for 500000k if well maintained, but damn they are slow and bad on gas) 88 318i - be aware they have head problems. Cam belt easy on both. Pre 88 318 has timing chain - no need to change belt. Auto is pretty horrible on gas - tranny isn't that bulletproof either.
-
So on that note get a 325 (unless you are young - you won't get insured)
-
OK First off Avoid 320i - slowest e30 and bad on gas. They rust in: Sunroof, Boot, Floor, Firewall - roughly in that order. Engines in Prefacelift cars (pre 88 - chrome bumpers) 318i are bulletproof. Diff in all cars bulletproof. Engine in Facelift 318 has lots of known problems. All will have poked rubber components/shocks if never been changed.
-
Any correctly marked brake lines are OK (DOT standard)
-
There is NO turbo lag. It is the same e30 yes. Currently the exhaust manifold is cracked and there is a huge exhaust leak. Hence the lag when Gus drove it.
