Jib and Apex just said up above that the pf/l and f/l housings were that same Oh well. Who wants some brand new facelift housings?! Haha.
-
Got them today! I knew I was expecting too much from Trademe/Taiwan stuff... The housings and connections are completely different. Also, they have 2 bulbs in them? WTF. Ended up just swapping the bulbs and clear lens into my housings. The side repeaters were too long in the fitting, the light only comes out as a small circle. Will trim them down. All in all looks damn awesome. Well done Apex. Excuse the stone chips. But admire my freshly painted grills Old vs New. See housing is totally different. And fittings.. Taken 5 years off his life! Housing difference, old on the left. ON That suits perfectly. Tiny orange light. Will fix.

Too right Jono! that's why I'm trying to keep mine as stock looking as possible ahaaha 9 grand is a fair price for something like Andrews here. It's crazy how you can buy a performance japanese car for cheaper than that.. No where near as cool though. Not that I'm ever selling my mspec. It'll be a mid-engined monster after I get my degree heh..

I think for around that price you can get a full seasons live streaming coverage from the official F1 website.. But for free you can use www.justin.tv, I watched the Le mans live on that and people also broadcast the F1 live too. Next race this sunday at midnight! Too bad I have a physics exam at 0930 on monday, gah.

This was 19 hours ago. Should be in Auckland before the Le Mans 24 hour finishes!

Oh yeah I know, didn't post it for the driving skills hahaha! There are 2 videos in the set, the other driver is much, much worse. Lesser of 2 evils here. I posted it for the noise between WOT shifts. Dayyyyymmm

Yes, you're right about the centripetal force. But having a centre of gravity that is closer to the suspensions roll center is beneficial too. It more evenly spreads the weight over each side set of tires during cornering. To take this point to the extreme: Imagine a broom. If you hold the handle and have the sweeper end in the air (CoG far from the roll centre) and then run around in circles, you will get a hell of a lot of torque acting through your hand (the roll centre), if you take the same broom and hold the sweeping end and do the same thing, that roll effect is much less. Same principle as I'm trying to apply. Also, imagine if the CoG was lower than the roll centre.. The car would 'swing' into corners just like a motorbike. Hard to understand but it happens. Nearly impossible to acheive though. I'll try and design perfect suspension in my later years here at Uni... In the end I'll be lightening the car a hell of a lot and the sound deadening will go haha, but for now I know it's not too detrimental having it in. Gustave explains roll centre and lowering well: http://www.e30m3project.com/e30m3performan...ht_transfer.htm As well as a heap of other things. Great site. He chooses Ground Control for his M3 http://www.e30m3project.com/e30m3performan...sp/GC_susp1.htm

'Procar' Spec M1 (490hp or so) driven around Silverstone. Click HD and turn up the sound. DO WANT NOISE!
-
Will follow up on the roll centre discussion later.. Just a quick UPDATE from the iPod: Stuspenshin is coming. On USPS. When I got the AKG stuff sent on USPS, it took 5 working days... Wish me luck in not getting stung with too many taxes!!

Go buy a cheap as tripod from d*ck smith and then do as Laurence says That way you shouldn't get sticky all over the camera body

Hmmm yes yes yes. The weight of the windows would act through halfway up them.. And the weight of the remainder of the roof and pillers.. The 7 (or 18 total) would certainly make a difference. How much though I'm not sure haha.. The glass is very heavy indeed. But closer to the roll centre.. I think loosing all this weight would be like deleting a windscreen.
-
Well thats the Torque the weight is putting on the roll centre Z axis line. Doesn't really depend on the car's total weight. just during a good hard corner at 1G there will be that much force rolling the car. The amount the car actually rolls depends on springs/sways etc. Note that thats only the weight taken out. To add up the total torque on the roll centre would mean weighing every small piece on the car and it's distance to the roll centre. Which would be a high number yes. But the greatest effect in decreasing this number would be taking weight from the largest distance possible from the RC. I only know it's meaningful from having taken out the sunroof in my last e30. The difference was incredible. And the physics match that. 211 Nm is a hell of a force though. If that 18 kgs was on the roll center, there would be a torque of 0 Nm. So it makes sence to get all weight centralised. That's why I'm not taking out the floor sound deadening. Being below the roll centre (I believe) It actually helps roll the car into the corner (it helps the centre of gravity stay low, if it was taken out the CoG would rise), not out of it (think, like a motorbike)
