Looks easy... I wonder if it's the same on my 528i. Will try and lift it up somewhere over the weekend and take a proper ganders.
-
Singaporean originally, I believe. Given up on the de-cat. Seems a bit much fuss.
-
I did but don't have a decent jack and couldn't see a great deal... Doesn't help that I didn't really know what I was looking for!
-
Thanks Glenn. Makes my decision much easier then, far more trouble than it's worth, methinks.

Thanks Glenn. Vin # BV77217

Ha! So sick of cleaning my cat's grubby little paw prints off my car that I no longer park in our drive and leave the car in my office underground car park! Haven't found any conclusive evidence on Google that M52B28 has pre and post sensors but quite a few posts seem to allude to it having both so am assuming the de-cat procedure is more trouble than it's worth.

Was planning to de-cat, remove the Y-resonator and replace the twin muffler setup with a single oval muffler with down tip but will only de-cat if ECU work is not required.
-
Seem to remember a post about this where somebody said that if you de-cat an E39 you have to remap ECU if it has pre and post cat sensors. Can't find the post and thinking of doing this. Assuming this is the case (it makes sense) can anyone tell me if a 1996 E39 528i has pre and post cat sensors. Not too sure how to check or find out? Thanks in advance.

Failed to keep up with a very nice black E92 335i on the northern motorway between Silverdale and town. License plate 335I SE. In other news had a thoroughly enjoyable drive up to Te Point and back. My E39 was an absolute pleasure to drive and for the first time (touch wood) everything felt right. More fun to drive (and definitely more comfortable) than the brand new 320i wagon we're borrowing IMHO, but I am biased!

Cripes, that's a fair bit. I was thinking for US$350 it would be worth doing for my 528i to improve hp and fuel economy but definitely not at $1300!

Replaced (with a lot of help - in fact, I was more of a spectator) the drive shaft coupling and air-con unit bearing - an issue identified by Tom (M3_Power)! Contemplating vanos seal replacement but in no massive hurry. Certainly can't do it myself.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the registration criteria are less stringent if you an immigrant bringing your car with you. Worth looking into I think.

Inorganic collection next week so some of this stuff will be sitting by the side of the road - in particular the comfort seat bases. Claim for free now and pick up by next week or the go out in the trash... Got no room to store them any more.

ha! You're not wrong... Though the price is pretty outrageous considering you can buy one new in the UK, bring it here and register for a good $50-75K less. I hear you re: the Porsche and what a trans-Euro trip you could have! But it's still a Porsche. I understand their brilliance in terms of performance, etc but I've never liked them, in fact, I've never really fallen in love with any two seater sports cars. I like 'sleepers' - the M5 touring for example - has to be the ultimate sleeper. Anyway, back to the ugly thread, that grille on the Lexus is absurd. Someone on the Lexus design team playing with the effects on Photobooth?
-
I probably wouldn't put the Posi Quiets on an M5 either - but perfect for my 528i. No complaints.
-
+1 > Was at BMW HQ last week to pick up the 320i touring we're borrowing and they had a white M6 with carbon roof there - looked incredible, but so it should at $265,000.
-
There's a reason I put a picture of the rear end... Never liked it even new. The F10 is a vast improvement - even though a lot of critics seem to agree the E60 M5 is superior to the new one. But then, this thread is about looks not performance.

What do you mean?

Very few of my posts contain anything other than opinion. Any similarity to actual facts is purely coincidental.

Sorry mate, but I'm with Graham. It looks like it was designed by Pablo Picasso.

We were pretty ruthless about the old Princesses when I was a kid... Would love a mint one now!

You're not wrong... I have a long list of 'when-my-memoirs-are-a-best-seller' things I'd like to do.
