For practicality and value the E46. I daily drive an E39 528i. I love it - particularly how it looks but it ain't cheap to run as a daily over short distances. Haven't driven a 525 but I imagine it's going to be considerably more sluggish than a 323 which is a much lighter machine. That said my 528 might not win any drag races but it's no slouch either. If you want comfort and style look for a cheaper E39 w/cloth then spend the difference upgrading the cloth to leather (costs about $2k). Wouldn't consider parking a great problem anywhere in New Zealand unless your driving a Dodge truck.

Have $$$s. Will spend.

Everything from the top of the wheels up looks good. Everything below looks bad.

Thanks Andy. They look even better since I had them fixed up:

Yep, that's what I meant! Was trying to distinguish between these and the lower "eye lids".

Got two sets, one painted (Cosmos black 303) and one unpainted. Looking for $40 for each set so a bargain if you've got a Cosmos black E39. They look like this:

Good advice, thanks. I found a brand new sensor for $40 from Germany, so will fit that when it gets here.
-
Hard to see exactly where the sensor is leaking - most likely the o ring's buggered. No faults when I scanned yesterday though?! Edit: I forgot Kombi

Very nice. I think you meant to post these in the OFFICIAL SPOTTED thread not my WTF?! thread!!
-
It's f*cking hideous is what it is!! You are correct though, not a BMW - please note the title of this thread.

Thanks for all the help, fellas. Got the car up on the hoist again this morning and isolated the problem. Definitely the oil level sensor. Doesn't drip much on the flat but there's a steady trickle when the car's leaning on passenger side. I'm guessing the sensor's faulty anyway as I got no warnings and the oil level was pretty low. BMW NZ want close to $300 for a new one but should be able to get one much cheaper elsewhere.

Oops typo... Added 2L. Still sh*t loads and no obvious leaks prior today apart from Rocker head gasket and oil filter housing and those didn't seem to be p*ssing oil. ha! Nothing so easy to spot unfortunately, though hopefully easier to fix! It's weird... Got my mechanic stumped too.
-
I finally got round to replacing the oil filter housing gasket which had been slowly leaking oil for a while. My mechanic also noticed a leak from the rocker cover so replaced the gasket at the same time. Topped up 4L of oil as well (lost since it was refilled in March). Thought I'd got all the leaks but parked outside my office today for a couple of hours and came back to a pretty substantial pool of oil. Took it back to my mechanic and he got it up on the hoist but not obvious where the oil's coming from so gave it a good clean then ran the car for half an hour and got it back on the hoist. The only thing we could spot was a small leak from the oil sensor which I'll replace but not nearly enough to account for the big pool of oil when I parked. No leaks after that until I parked at home - then a sizeable pool has appeared. The only thing I can think of in common with the earlier situation is that both times the oil has leaked are when the car is parked on the camber so it's leaning down towards the passenger side. I'm guessing it hasn't leaked before because the oil level was lower... Any ideas what might be leaking when it's at an angle? Gonna get it on the hoist again in the morning to see if we can spot it now the underside's been cleaned but any tips/ideas would be appreciated.

Any way round it or will I have to assemble working seats from the two sets I have using the original bases and wiring?
-
So my little lad trampolined on the passenger seat and buggered the seat occupancy sensor. After that I bought a couple of replacement secondhand comfort seats from Brent that he'd tested. Unfortunately, I didn't realise the driver's side didn't have the wire harness for the steering column adjuster when I swapped the seats over. Anyway, the long and the short of it is that everything works on the new seats - except the steering column adjuster - but I can't reset the airbag fault. The reader says the airbag control module is faulty. Prior to installing the replacement seats I had been able to reset the airbag fault (though it would come back everytime my son managed to get into the front seat) but after installation the airbag light can't be reset. I didn't test the seats prior but Brent assures me he did so I don't think it's the sensor in the new seat. Would the inoperative steering column adjuster trigger the fault code? I'm going to swap the bases over soon to get it working again but wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Quote "THIS CAR IS WORTH $80.000 TO $100.000 BRAND NEW." He's right that it's worth $80 to $100 now, think he means $80,000-100,000 new.

Comes with a five-speed Manuel... Must be a Spanish car.

Great looking car. Favourite wagon.

Saw this '96 328i convertible in the supermarket car park the other day. Looked very tidy and is for sale. Sadly I over estimated my iPhone camera thinking you'd be able to see the seller's mobile number... No joy. I guess it's probably on TM though if someone's interested.

Great pics... I seriously want the new red M6. Beautiful car. They didn't leave the keys under the sun visor, did they?
-
Got a feeling it was in Tauranga before, obviously bought by someone in Auckland... Anyone know the car?

Sounds amazing.... pics please!
